Lionel Messi had his first attempt of the match in the 25' with a left-foot swing in the box but the attempt was just high of the bar. Brandon Vazquez pounced on an erroneous clearance from Callender in the 31' to place the hosts up and extend Monterrey's lead on aggregate. Diego Gomez scored for the visitors in the 85' with a header off a free kick assist from Messi. Monterrey advances to the semifinals for the first time since the 2021 edition when it finished as champion.
