About this event

Together, Open Doors and Aid to the Church in Need will be hosting a panel event on 8 March 2022 to mark International Women’s Day, 11-11.45am via Zoom. Alongside first-hand accounts from survivors of sexual violence and forced conversion, the event will unpack further research into persecution of women from religious minorities and provide policy asks for the UK government. Emily Buchanan, BBC journalist, will chair a discussion between:

  • Fiona Bruce, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief
  • Rahima Mahmut, a Muslim Uighur woman and a human rights activist who left Xinjiang after witnessing the brutal suppression of a protest
  • Hinna Maluch, a Christian woman from Pakistan, who fled to the UK after suffering persecution and abuse.

Open Doors works in more than 60 countries to support persecuted Christians who face the most extreme persecution. They do this both through providing emergency relief and working with local partners to strengthen persecuted Christians for the long-term. Find out more here: https://www.opendoorsuk.org/
