Stealing the stone was easy but Calli didn’t know how to steal back her own heart from the gryphon. Calli is on a mission to steal the Hecate’s Stone. Sounds easy, right? She thought so too until she discovers it’s guarded by a gryphon. An honest-to-goodness mythical creature come to life. He’s sexy as sin even if he is a bit old-world. He calls him Darrien and he insists she return the stone. Not likely. But when he shows up at her hotel room and his touch zaps her like she swallowed a lightning bolt, she starts to second-guess herself. He speaks of doom and gloom if her client uses the strong for its intended purpose but she’s in desperate need of the money. Can she stay one step ahead of her sexy gryphon and get her money? Or better yet, can she trade her thieving life for a love written in the stars?
The Gryphon and His Thief is a fantasy romance unlike anything I’ve read before. Maybe it’s the simple fact that I love gryphons and they aren’t seen much in shifter romance. Maybe it’s because the heroine is a no-nonsense sassy woman who can hold her own when backed into a corner. But I think what captured my imagination the most is their connection and romantic tension. She’s attracted to him for unknown reasons. He’s attracted to her because they’re soul mates in a previous life. The sparring between these two is enough for me to recommend this book to any reader. The plot moves at a terrific pace with humorous dialogue, immense world-building, action scenes, and a love so strong, it’s unstoppable. The writing is classic Karen Michelle Nutt, blending mythology and modern-day with intricate descriptive narration. I adored the characters, especially Calli. The more I read, the more I whipped through the pages. If you love shifter romances, you’ve got to read The Gryphon and His Thief. If fantasy romance and/or paranormal romance are your reading jam, pick up The Gryphon and His Thief. Romance readers will love this book. Highly recommend!
