He would be a welcomed addition to this club..

As the Angels continue their push toward the postseason this year, they could soon be getting back a key piece to their puzzle. Injured catcher Logan O’Hoppe is scheduled to play at Triple-A this week as he makes his way back to the big leagues.

He is still at least a week away from returning, but this is excellent news for an Angels team that could use all the help they can get. His rehab assignment will likely last a while to make sure that he is healthy enough to come back, meaning he could return at the end of August.

“Catcher Logan O’Hoppe (shoulder surgery) will play this week at Triple-A Salt Lake. O’Hoppe is set to catch back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday and then again on Friday and Saturday. Nevin said O’Hoppe will play at least the whole week at Salt Lake. He has compared his rehab assignment to the lockout-shortened spring training in 2022, which was about 2½ weeks."

Per The OC Register

Getting O’Hoppe back would be huge for this Angels squad. Before his injury, he was in the midst of a solid season for the team, and his production would be welcomed.

On the year, he is hitting .283 with four home runs and 13 runs batted in. He hasn’t seen the field since April, meaning it could be a slow process back for the young catcher.

O’Hoppe is likely the Angels catcher of the future, so any extra at-bats this season would be huge for his development. Even if the Angels can’t get back into contention, giving him extra time in the big leagues would be a strong sign for the future.

"If O’Hoppe’s rehab assignment lasts 2½ weeks, he would be ready just before the Angels play the New York Mets at Citi Field. That is the series that O’Hoppe has set as a goal to return. He grew up on Long Island. …”

If he can provide any sort of spark for this team when he does return, it’s needed. The Angels have fallen on hard times of late, and any hope of a playoff chance is looking worse each passing day for this team.
