With the Anugrahams  of Perumal, Piratti and  Acharyas, our Hindu Temple of Atlanta is honored to perform Sri (Lakshmi Narayana) Yagam, from NOVEMBER 19 to  28, 2021 during the holy Karthika Masam.

Sri Yagam is one of the most auspicious ways to worship Goddess Mahalakshmi, Mother of the entire Universe. The Yagam is done for Vishva Shanthi (World peace) and HOLISTIC wealth. Goddess Mahalakshmi bestows such wealth through EIGHT MANIFESTATIONS, namely, Adi Lakshmi, Dhana Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Jaya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi.
 
Sri Yagam will be conducted over 9 days, comprising Abishekam (Thirumanjanam) and Homam, done with Goshti chanting of Sri Suktham and Purusha Suktham. Sri Suktham, one of the Pancha  Sukthams from the Rig Veda is chanted at all pujas for Goddess Lakshmi. Purusha Suktham is typically chanted to invoke Lord Maha Vishnu.

To complete the Sri Yagam as per sastras, we plan to have priests and ritviks chant together Sri Suktham 32,000 times & Purusha Suktham 16,000 times during the Abishekams. Sri Suktha and Purusha Suktha Homams will be performed with chanting exactly half that number. To reach the above total counts, we will need a minimum of 150 ritviks who can be at the function for at least 7 days.
 
We will have 16 Homa Kundams to accommodate all the priests and ritviks.
 
The abishekams and homams will begin every day at 6 AM and are likely to end around 2 PM. We will also have Bhajans, Veda Parayanam and Prabhandam for 2+ hours in the evening.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Performing Sandhyavandanam 3 times daily, for atleast 30 days before commencement of the program.  This is even a pre-requisite to learn Veda.
2. Complete at least 1008 Gayatri Japam before the 1st day of the event.  It should be done in one sitting – you are free to choose any day at your convenience.  This is primarily to help focus and enhance our concentration.
3. You should have learnt Sri Suktham & Purusha Suktham from a Guru. If you have learned from other sources, please email htasriyagam@gmail.com so that we can schedule a session with one of our the priests..
