The Leprechaun film series' last entry, Leprechaun 4: In Space, is a disappointment. Yes, it's set in space, but that's precisely what makes it so mind-numbingly fantastic. To put it another way, Leprechaun 4 serves as a shining example of how to take an absurd idea and convert it into something really unique. The movie is chock-full of realistic effects, imaginative killings, and Leprechaun lines that will have you rolling on the floor. Leprechaun 4: In Space is a must-see for fans of the Leprechaun franchise or horror films in general.
Pinhead
Hellraiser: Bloodline is an intriguing series continuation that also acts as a prequel. The plot takes place throughout three time periods: the 1700s, the 1990s, and the 2200s. My hopes for the fourth part in the series were low, and to be honest, I'm just here for Pinhead and the other Cenobites. Doug Bradley's performances are always enjoyable because he retains that chilly, menacing, and demonic atmosphere. This makes no logic and is tough to comprehend, but who cares about any of that? Even if you've watched Hellraiser, you should see Bloodline only for Pinhead's scenes since they're so horrific. If you like Hellraiser or any of Clive Barker's previous works, you should definitely check out this one. Even though there isn't much logic to it, it's a tremendously fun ride.
Critters
I'll confess that the announcement that Critters 4 will take place in space piqued my interest and got me excited. I mean, how could they possible beat the work that they had done in the prior Critters movies? But then I looked at the cast list, and it didn't appear very good at all. Where is Brad Dourif? Angela Bassett? And what about the renowned Danish actor Anders Hove? I simply couldn't fathom how something like this could work out.
And my fears were confirmed when I finally saw Critters 4. The story was bad, the characters were bad, and it was just a rip-off of other franchises set in a terrible location. What really hurts from a fan perspective is that the very things that made the previous entries unique and entertaining are either completely stripped out or just (blog) not present at all. Critters 4 is a complete mess and a huge disappointment.
Dracula
Dracula 3000 is so terrible it's virtually unwatchable. I loathe Dracula 3000. Even though it's terrible throughout, the finale left me feeling unfulfilled. I thought "Dracula in Space" would be horrible yet good, but it was dreadful. The notion is amusing, but the acting and conversation are awful. Watch it if you want to feel unhappy all day.
Also, Coolio. It stars Coolio. Did I mention that?
Jason Voorhees
The most famous horror movie sequel in which the bad guy goes to space is Jason X. Jason Voorhees is the person, the legend, and the myth. It doesn't matter how he got into space. No one cares why he's in space. Jason being in space and ready to cause trouble is all that matters.
In my view, Jason X is worth seeing for easter eggs and nods to past Friday the 13th movies, as well as his metamorphosis into Uber Jason.
While this movie isn't everyone's bag, it's a terrific viewing for horror movie enthusiasts who adore campy, cheesy, slasher pictures.
