URF is back! Well, at least one version of it is. It's better than nothing however, and the "all random" part of this game mode does make for some interesting shenanigans we don't expect.
Ultra Rapid Fire, also known as URF, is a Featured Game Mode played on Summoners Rift where all champions get to use their abilities more often and matches usually last 20 minutes or less. All players start the game with an aura that adds many adjustments to how the game is played. The two main highlights are 300 Ability haste, equivalent to 75% cooldown reduction, and the removal of all mana and energy costs from using abilities.
In 2022, ring in the Lunar New Year with ARURF starting on January 26! That's the All Random Ultra Rapid Fire game mode, not the one with the blind pick if you're new around these parts.
Beyond the normal ARURF that you know and love, Riot have added a flipper full of changes to a couple of runes and a few surprises to the Awesome Buff of Awesomely Awesome Buffing's tooltip.
In their, relatively, recent explanation of why League of Legends game modes are not here to stay indefinitely, Riot make a very good case. That means that we cannot expect ARURF to last for too long, perhaps even shorter than usual as it is tied to the Lunar Year event.
So make sure to take some time for it, before it's gone.
