RoboCop 1987

Robocop (1987) is violent, vulgar, and sexually explicit. Peter Weller portrays the protagonist. Within twenty minutes, a criminal gang brutally dismembers him. Near the end of the film, one person is attacked by toxic waste, and then killed by the vehicle. It is not gratuitous violence, but it works in (Robocop) dialogue with the narrative. RoboCop takes set in a dystopian future Detroit where law enforcement is powerless to restore order. A multinational corporation "partners" law enforcement by using the crisis to produce and market new military hardware, such as battle robotics that can replace beat cops. The company will clean the streets and generate a profit. It will also help develop an upscale section of the new city.
