The Be More Awards honors and applauds our community volunteers' outstanding but often unrecognized efforts.

Come out and help recognize the recipients and nominees of this year's Be More Awards! This FREE and family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate volunteerism and the nonprofit organizations that serve our community.


We are pleased to announce this year's award recipients-

Be More BloomingtonEl Centro Comunal Latino Volunteers (El Centro Comunal Latino) 
Presented to an individual or group demonstrating excellence in response to issues of 2023. Housing/homelessness, justice, and immigration are examples of 2023 issues.

Be More Creative- Sandra Freund  (Sing for Joy! Community Choir/Area 10 Agency on Aging)
Honors volunteer work within the arts community.

Be More Dedicated- Phillip Trimble (Wheeler Mission-Bloomington)
Presented to an individual or couple over the age of 60 for their lifetime of service within the community.

Be More Energized- Sriram Srinivasan  (Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana)
Honors an individual or group under the age of 25.

Be More Impactful/ Group- SCCAP Thriving Connections' Talking About Change Advisory Group (SCCAP Thriving Connections)
Honors the volunteer group of the year.

Be More Impactful/ Individual- Lauren McCalister (People's Cooperative Market)
Honors the volunteer of the year.

Be More Phenomenal- James Sanders (Commission on the Status of Black Males)
Presented to outstanding leadership through board, commission, or committee involvement.

Special Group Recognition Award- Indiana Recovery Alliance Volunteers 
(Indiana Recovery Alliance)
Selection Committee special award to spotlight the outstanding efforts of volunteer groups in the community.

Each of the Be More Award recipients will receive a $1,000 cash award provided by Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County for the recipient's nonprofit organization in honor of their outstanding service.
