Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2018 Point-In-Time Count! For those of you who are new to the count, it is the annual census / housing survey for households experiencing homelessness. With your help we can collect valuable data about Whatcom County’s most vulnerable population and use the information to advocate for more effective housing services.
Volunteers are assigned locations where they survey individuals about their housing status, including information about potential contributing factors to homelessness. Volunteers should be prepared to facilitate conversations about potentially sensitive topics.
Read the 2017 Annual Report here:
https://tinyurl.com/PITWC2017This year the PIT count will occur Thursday, January 25th, but there are volunteer shifts available on alternative days during the last week in January. Possible volunteer shifts are listed below. Please check ANY shifts that you would be available and interested in. This will help me when scheduling. If you have a particular location interest, please indicate that. I cannot promise assignments, but will try my best!
We ask all volunteers - even ones who have surveyed before - to attend a PIT Count volunteer training. There are changes to the survey every year, so this helps us let you know what those changes are! At a training we will go over the housing survey form and best practices to maintain data quality. You will also be able to get the materials you need to participate. Please RSVP to ONE of the following trainings.
