Farm Ridge Hike

People throughout the Chicago region get certified organic vegetables from the Prairie Crossing Farm in Grayslake. Where does your food grow, and how is it grown?

Join resident organic farmer Jeff Miller of Sandhill Family Farms for a Farm Ridge Hike from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Wed., Jul. 23. Advance registration is required for this free and educational event. Registration is limited, so don't delay!

The Farm Ridge Hike will start from the Prairie Crossing Farm's Yellow Farmhouse parking lot at 32400 N. Harris Road in Grayslake. Enter Prairie Crossing via Route 45 at Jones Point Rd. and follow the signs to the Farm. Parking is available in the small parking lot just past the Yellow Farmhouse, or on Harris Road between the first and second farm driveways.

Good agricultural practices discourage even the best trained animals near fields used for growing food, so please leave all pets at home except service dogs. The Prairie Crossing Farm is a smoke-free facility.

The Farm Ridge Hike will be held rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Participants will walk on uneven surfaces including wood chips and gravel. Come prepared to walk outdoors with sunscreen, insect repellent, and a filled water bottle. Limited restroom facilities (Port-a-Potties) are available on the Prairie Crossing Farm.
