Mr. Roadruck from Norfolk VA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these innovative devices to transform our iPad into an interactive classroom accessory able to add excitement that will engage them in the, extension and remediation, learning process across multiple content areas.

As the schools Instructional Technology teacher, I am able to push-in and pull-out to support the teachers and students with remediation and extensions of contents with the use of technology. This year, I get to work with 71 Third Graders, 66 Fourth Graders, and 74 Fifth Graders. These 100 girls and 111 boys are a mixed ability bunch, some with gifted, special needs identification, and some labeled ESL. The students come from diverse households that range from low income to middle class. The school I teach in is a Title 1 public elementary school that has socio-economical and multicultural diversity. 80% of our population receiving free and reduced lunch. Our school has a large population of special needs students, including SECEP and severe and profound disabilities.
The students I see are always ready to learn when the material is presented in an exciting way.
My students are visual and kinesthetic learners. They need to see and touch the things they are learning in order for concepts to become concrete. They are a technologically aware generation and want to use many electronic learning devices aside from school computers.
Osmo is an award winning system that will change the way my students learn and interact with the iPad by opening it up to hands-on experiences. Osmo’s variety of apps will encourage my students to develop cooperation and community building with their classmates during the problem solving that will occur during the assortment of experiences available.
There is a challenge for everybody!
Using the Tangram and Newton apps will be great ways for my students to exercise their spatial and visual problem-solving skills. Hundreds of puzzles and challenges will force the students to think in new ways.
Utilizing Numbers and Pizza Co. are great ways for my students to develop confidence with their number sense, fraction, and money knowledge. Math will become creative and fun when they are learning through experimentation that there are multiple ways to solve problems. Skills in these apps are taught through engaging real-world math objectives.
Maneuvering the tiles in Words will allow my students a fun way to develop spelling skills alone or in modes with other classmates. Downloading additional content will extend the learning endlessly.
Osmo coding is the easiest way for me to introduce the world of coding to my students. Manipulating the physical blocks in Coding teaches logic skills and problem solving, and will help my kids succeed in an increasingly digital world. The fun from this interactive game will ignite the children's imagination, inspire dreams and build confidence.
