Any way you look at it, summertime is on your side if you’re single.

One survey found if you’re looking for love (and lust), two thirds of couples met during the sunshine months.

But 70% of those who said they’re happy staying single – and just want no-strings flings – reported having the most friskiness in the summer.

Let’s face it, sunshine makes us feel good – and randy – we wear skimpier clothes, feel freer and just have a more positive attitude. Perfect for your pulling power.

Whether looking for a fun fling or lasting love, follow these seven easy steps.

Turn up the flirting signals

Make yourself irresistible to that person you’ve spotted across a bar or summer barbecue by simply stroking your hair gently - don’t flick it nervously.

Lightly touch the rim of your glass or your neckline as you chat. Little signals like this tap into their subconscious desire. And it reveals your interest.

Don’t rush things even if you’re flirting like crazy

Remember the motto ‘tease to please’ - surely some ancient Greek philosopher came up with that one!

Keep that new person on their toes and don’t give them everything at once. Building sexual tension has big payoffs.

It’s natural to be nervous with someone new

I hear from so many they’ve met someone they’re attracted to yet feel nervous.

Remember you’re both in the same position… and I don’t mean later tonight sharing a sex position.

You’re torn between wanting to tear their clothes off and worrying you’ll embarrass yourself.

So make it like a sexy striptease when you’re ready for sex. Slowly undo each other’s clothes.

Start the foreplay as you undress – kissing their flesh gently and sensually as you reveal it.

Begin as you mean to go on!

If you’ve been faking orgasms with past boyfriends or girlfriends because their technique didn’t hit the spot, don’t do it this time around.

A study found that one of the top three sexiest things a new partner can do is explain in delicious detail what they like.

So let them know what does it for you.

For instance, want them to kiss and lick your nipples a certain way? Take their index finger between your lips and suck it and lick it – then say how you’d like those same sensations done to your body.

Summer sex should be about fun, so save those ice cubes from your cocktails!

Pull that new person down onto the bed with you – if you’re still in the sofa-zone in your lounge you can still do this – open up their dress or shirt, take an ice cube between your lips and gently run it up and down their body.

Suggest a lovely cool shower. Normally we like to get hot and steamy in one, but with temperatures soaring keep it cool.

Lather each other up and slip into the Strip Search position: she faces the shower wall, he comes in from behind. Gorgeous with the water cascading down over you two.

So something goes wrong when you finally go to bed?

Don’t turn it into a big deal. One piece of relationship research showed if you have confidence when things go wrong, that confidence spreads to your partner.

When you can both laugh together in bed it’s a great sign things are off to a great start.

Try some summer siesta sex

If you’ve got access to a lounger or hammock, take it outdoors. The rocking motion of a hammock is super sexy.

Obviously be discreet – you don’t want to give your neighbours a shock!

If you don’t have access to one, no matter - you can show your new summer love you’re up for fantastic alfresco foreplay.

Lots of luscious lip-action will stimulate oxytocin in you both – the feel-good sex hormone.
