Location

Description

Every community has an incredible supply of assets and resources, such as people (their skills, knowledge and passions), networks, groups and organisations, places and spaces, the local economy, and local history and culture. Strong communities are built by recognising, celebrating, harnessing and building on these community assets. Community asset mapping is an approach used to understand, utilise and build on these assets (sometimes also called strengths).

Public sector agencies in Dudley borough would like to encourage and support people who work, volunteer or live in our local communities to think and act in an asset based way. If you have a desire to support people to help each other and some energy to make things happen, then this training is for you!

What to expect:

A welcoming, participatory session which recognises and values everyone’s contributions.

Examples of real pieces of work carried out by people in similar communities to those in Dudley borough.

An opportunity to share experiences, explore ideas and test new approaches.

Time to create plans for your own community asset mapping activities.

Support to carry out your asset mapping activities following the training (i.e. support from people who have already had a go, shared learning/ networking sessions, promotional resources and small amounts of funding, if required).

Refreshments throughout the day and a delicious lunch!

There will be a maximum of 25 people on this course.

Paid staff are encouraged to attend with at least one other colleague who they work with in the community, and a few volunteers or residents. This will enable you to work as a small team to carry out your community asset mapping activities following the training.

Registration is from 9.30am ready for a 10.00am start.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Parking is available on site.

You do not need to print a ticket.
