Malaria Prevention Program Turns TenNetsforLife® reduces cases by 45%
NetsforLife®, Episcopal Relief & Development's award-winning malaria prevention and control program, celebrated its 10th year earlier this week on World Malaria Day. The program, which was piloted in Zambia in 2006, has resulted in a 45% reduction in malaria cases where NetsforLife® is active. The disease still kills one child every two minutes in sub-Saharan Africa.

The 16th meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council took place in Lusaka, Zambia, April 8-19. The three elected representatives from the Episcopal Church--Rosalie Simmonds Ballentine, Bishop Ian T. Douglas and the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings--attended and participated fully.

Bishop Montgomery to be Honored
by St. Augustine College
St. Augustine College will hold its annual El Puente Awards Gala April 28 at 6 pm at the Aragon Ballroom (1106 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago). This year, the Rt. Rev. James W. Montgomery, Episcopal Bishop of Chicago (Retired), will receive the "El Puente Achievement Award." This recognition is given by St. Augustine College to individuals and entities that have an exemplary record of service.

Prayer and Discernment: A Quiet Day
April 30 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Evanston
On April 30 at St. Luke's in Evanston, the Rev. Mark McIntosh will offer meditations on the resurrection appearances of Jesus as sources of refreshment in the spiritual life. McIntosh will offer talks at 9:15 am, 10 am, and 11 am, and will conclude with noontime prayer at 11:45 am. All are welcome to attend and to come and go quietly as your time permits.

Join Bishop Anderson House for The Art of Healing, Sunday, May 1, 6 - 9 pm at the Society For Arts (112 N. In Memoriam: Patricia Drew
We are sad to report that Patricia M. Drew died on April 25 at the age of 85. Drew was an active leader at Holy Comforter Church (Kenilworth), for 61 years and was honored by Episcopal Charities and Community Services last year as a life trustee. Drew was also a long-time leader of the Cathedral Shelter of Chicago, now called ReVive, and received many honors for her work, including the "Heart of Gold" award from the United Way of Chicago. She served as president of the diocese's Bishop's Associates until her death. Pat is survived by her husband, Bob, and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held May 25 at Holy Comforter. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
