Designed and Built For DEAN
by Craig Calfee
Fiber Fusion . . . Lay-up:
Carbon fabric is wet out with epoxy and laminated to pre-mitred tubes using metal
dies. (210 p.s.i. laminating pressure yields consistent, void-free composite)
Power trimming:
The rough edges are trimmed and sanded with abrasive power tools.
(Using the same Swiss power tools commonly used for jet turbine blade finishing)
Finishing:
The details are sanded to perfection by highly skilled craftsmen. (No need for body
filler or porosity-hiding primers and paint). What you see is what you get. (The
finishing touch - as only human hands can accomplish)
THE TUBES
We use tensioned fiber tube sets custom built to our specifications - the lightest,
toughest, most shock absorbing, tube sets available. No shortcuts here.
THE TITANIUM REAR TRIANGLE
Compatible materials are essential for the specific application of titanium and carbon
molding. Therefore, our titanium rear triangle is an ideal fit for the production
process. Titanium doesn't rust or corrode like aluminum and alloy
steels. Titanium also has a virtually identical rate of thermal expansion as
carbon fiber - therefore, it doesn't naturally separate from carbon fiber.
