KALAMAZOO, MI -- The accolades are stacking up for Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell and now the committee for the biggest award in college football is taking notice.

Western Michigan received word Friday that Terrell, a senior grad student, is being considered for the 2016 Heisman Trophy.

Terrell is leading the Broncos in their best season to date, a 10-0 start (6-0 in the Mid-American Conference) with rankings in the College Football Playoff list (No 21) and the Associated Press Top 25 Poll (No. 14).

He's said in the past that the recognition for other awards he's in the running for is nice, but he's committed to focusing on the season at hand.

That might be challenging with the biggest award in the land as a focus.

Terrell is already being considered for a plethora of awards including the Davey O'Brien Award (given to the best quarterback), the Wuerffel Award, the Manning Award and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

He was also named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and as part of the 2016 AFCA Good Works Team.

The Broncos have made waves this season after defeating two Big Ten teams on the road (Northwestern and Illinois) and Terrell has appeared on top quarterback lists as well.

He's currently fourth in the country in passing efficiency, fifth in completion percentage, sixth in yards per pass attempt and 12th in passing touchdowns.

Terrell is currently third in passing yards at Western Michigan with 11,016.

Finalists for the Heisman will be announced Monday, Dec. 5 with the winner being awarded on Dec. 10.
