Dr. Rachel Christina leads the International Basic Education and Literacy team at Education Development Center (EDC), where she advances EDC’s signature Read Right Now literacy program for low-resource environments; Start Right Now integrated early childhood approach; foundational critical thinking skills packages for mathematics, science, and social-emotional learning; and accelerated education programming. Dr. Christina has worked for more than 25 years in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the United States on a range of research, design, and evaluation programs related to improving educational quality, and has a particular interest in system building and stakeholder empowerment to sustain and scale education reforms. For this panel, she will draw on EDC’s experience facilitating long-term systemic changes in support of educational quality and self-reliance in Mali, the Philippines, Zambia, Liberia, and Zanzibar, with particular attention to building internal appetite for and commitment to incremental, long-term transformation of education programming
