Mine was always Babes In Toyland, and I'm pretty sure I've lost partial hearing since the 90's : For those that are now parents, what do your kids play to get under your skin? Hannah Montana?

Everything Now! Release Free Digital EP & Play 3 shows with Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos

Our good friends in the renowned "Space Gospel" group Everything, Now! have release a free Digital EP on their website everythingnowmusic.com. "Prequels And Parallels" as it is called contains three stellar tracks from the band's just-released album "Spatially Severed" (on MFT Records), as well as essential tracks from their two previous efforts ("Bible Universe" and "Ugly Magic") and three unreleased bonus tracks. Totaling 8 songs in 25 minutes, this is a hefty dose of insane psych-pop melodies disguised as commercialized space-age pop gems for the ADD generation. Certainly worth a download.

The band is also about to embark on a short Midwestern tour, ending with three shows supporting fellow Indianapolis group Margot & The Nuclear So and Sos. Those in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati take note! Complete show information is listed below.

D Tour - a cool film about Pat Spurgeon

Some of you may be aware of this project, some may not. As many of you know MFT buddy Pat Spurgeon (Steve Kowalski's Army, Stranded At The Drive In, Antenna, Rogue Wave, etc) was the subject of an Indie film recently. The film documents what life on the road was like for Pat while on dialysis for kidney failure. Pat has since found a donor and is doing well. This film, from the preview, looks to be really well done with lots of great Rogue Wave footage. The film also features the late, great Ev… Continue

The Suadetones Post

I recently was contacted about the all-too-real "The Suadetones" - the group, the cassettes, the shows, the legacy...
The Suadetones were "born" in a livingroom most likely in the summer of 1985. Later that fall John (The Convertibles) McCool set me up with the gear... it was done on cassette 4 track with a little peice of "foil" on the back of the cassette to allow all four tracks to record...) A qu… Continue

Oh man.

I've browsed this site for over a year... And now I finally join. :) What do you guys think about the new Margot album? I was pretty disappointed...Some of the songs were, seriously, amazing... But what they did to Ocean, Broadripple, As Tall as Cliffs, and other songs they'd released demos for, really turned my opinion of them around. Don't get me wrong - I still find them amazing. They have a great ability to play extremely loud music while keeping it organized, in control and beautiful. I'm… Continue

#7 Rockit's Famous Pizza-Rockit's Sundry of Customers or (The Life Blood of the Business)

The first time it happened I felt like a voyeur, an uninvited guest. It was so intimate and amorous. The couples danced, close and slow. Living in that moment, only for one another. "Unchained Melody" played on the jukebox, romantic, intoxicating. The lights were dimmed and the dancers, four of them, tuned us out completely. They held each other. Oblivious to their audience. It was one of those… Continue

#6 Rockit’s Famous Pizza - My Famous Employees or (The Cogs that Made the Pizza Wheel go)

My years cooking at Leslie's taught me something; sometimes working in food service sucks. The work can be frantic as hell. The breaks are erratic, if you even get one. The pay is lousy. The hours are shit, and the customers are sometimes jerks. When you get the right co-workers however, it can be a lot of fun. If you were to ask me what the best part about owning a business is,… Continue

#5 Rockit's Famous Pizza-A Business Resuscitated or (Two Steps Forward One Step Back)

There's a special group of people who gave me the wherewithal, the diligence and the inspiration to stay sober. They make up a small segment of our society. Some might consider them an aggravation, but to me they were a godsend. They gave me clarity and perspective when I really needed it most, and I'd like to thank them now. I'm talking about The Drunk Obnoxious Assholes. Thank You. Really. From t… Continue

#4 Rockit's Famous Pizza-My First Step to Success or (How I Pulled the Monkeys out of My Butt!)

I never considered myself enthralled. Held in bondage. Enslaved. Subjugated. Truth can sting sometimes. The worm started to turn after the Gulf War began. I had never thought my drug use and drinking was that big of a problem, that is, until I actually had to manage some real responsibility. Running a business and staying high, staying high and running a business. It was… Continue

#3 Rockit's Famous Pizza-A Business is Reborn or (why didn't I see that coming?)

Never get into business with someone you're not sure about. I always had a sneaking suspicion that Frank was a fraud. In the couple of weeks after Johnny Rockit's opened, evidence began accumulating. Incontrovertible evidence. Mountains of it. I mean, I had always taken Frank's stories with a grain of salt, but my confidence in them containing even a grain of truth was starti… Continue

#2 Rockit's Famous Pizza - Building a Business or (What the Hell did I step in?)

The first piece of advice I'd give to anyone who wants to start a business is this: "Have a plan." I'm sure they say that in business school, I've never taken a class, but I can't imagine that they don't. In fact it should be on page 1 of Basic Business: "Have a plan. If you do not have a plan, you will fail summarily and with little solace to your anus." (Hav… Continue

#1 Rockit's Famous Pizza-The Big Idea or (How'd that happen?!?)

I was drunk. There I said it. That's it. That's all. There is really nothing more to it. A simple explanation. No-no-no, I know what you're thinking: "That's just an excuse Burd." "You know what my friend John Matthew always said about excuses." I'd retort politely. "Tell me." "Excuses are like Assholes...ev… Continue
