Clusters of up to 100 mysterious objects, bright white lights and strange, triangular shaped objects are just some of a huge surge in UFO sightings reported to the Ministry of Defence last year.
The ministry has opened up its own "X-Files" for 2007, revealing 135 UFO sightings from across the UK.
If aliens are choosing the UK as a holiday destination, it appears it is becoming more popular, as the number if sightings has shot up since 97 were reported in 2006.
Last year the MoD released details of UFO sightings for the first time, including an archive back to 1998. Previously, details of classified reports were kept secret for 30 years. Discs, formations, white or orange lights, triangular shaped craft and pipe-like objects were all spotted buzzing around the sky in 2007.
In Duxford, Cambridgeshire on April 12, a witness reported seeing fifty objects, each with an orange light, assembling in the sky before ascending.
Two pilots in different planes above Alderney in the Channel Islands reported the same UFOs on April 23. They saw one bright orange craft, then a gap, followed by an identical object.
In Portsmouth, Hants, in October, a witness watched as "an oval/spherical shaped object approached an aircraft, and appeared to accelerate very fast, and then wobbled from side to side.
"Another object appeared in roughly the same vicinity and then stayed stationary."
In the West Midlands in December, one witness got a shock when a UFO shone a light into her window. The MoD logged: "A giant craft shone a light into the witness's back window. It shot off fast at first to the North East and then started to move at a slow pace."
Another report noted a "an exceedingly bright light, which was stationary, but sometimes flew off" over the Wiltshire skies.
Hilary Porter, from the British Earth and Aerial Mysteries Society (BEAMS) said sightings were becoming increasingly common. She said: "There has been a huge influx of UFOs. Absolutely enormous. There has been these huge formations than have been coming.
"We have had so many calls from people that have seen these huge formations. We have had call after call after call, from business people right down to ordinary folk in their cars. “There have been some very close encounters that have been quite unnerving for the people involved. We have had other people reporting orb sightings."
Others maintain that the vast majority of the sightings can be explained. Many are helicopters or other human designed craft like weather balloons and satellites, while others are optical illusions or unusual cloud formations. The MoD made the decision to release the files after a Freedom of Information request.
A spokeswoman said the ministry does not investigate each and every report. "We only investigate if there have been any objects in British air space that may be military," she said.
"Unless there's evidence of a potential threat we don’t investigate to try to identify it."
A thought: only one of the countless thousands (millions?) of UFO sightings recorded has to be true (i.e. an alien craft) for the phenomena of aliens visiting our world to be true. Said another way - every single sighting and encounter of aliens in the history of mankind has to be untrue (or otherwise explainable) for the phenomena of aliens visiting our world to be untrue.....

in 1997 i lived with my girlfriend in a flat on the coast not far from Dungeness power station.my girlfriend had gone to bed and i was drawing the curtains,whilst doing this i glanced a very bright light above the channel it caught my attetion because of its brightness.at first i thought it was a star and then it moved from left to right very quickly.i lent against the bay window to steady myself to watch it.it stayed stationary for about 5mins then started to go straight up slowly,freaked out i woke my girlfriend to witness this with me.we both went outside and i showed her the bright light,which was still going up.then it stopped and started to come towards the coast.at the point of crossing the coast[directly above us]it changed from one brilliant white light to three lights a triangle when this happened it changed direction slightly.there was no sound and we both believe to this day that we were witnessing an intelligent driven craft not made by humans.this craft must have been huge cos at the time i first spotted it,it was quite high in the sky then it travelled up for a good 10mins.and for it to change lights as it crossed our coast suggests something intelligent.i believe whatever it was it was studying dungeness.i also beleive that they have been visitng us for many years but are not hostile maybe they know better than we do,just how much we have damaged this planet and will colonise it themselves once us humans have finaly destroyed ourselves.the goverments of this world certainly know whats going on.WE R THE HOSTILE ONES WHO R DESTROYING THEIRE OWN PLANET.THINK ABOUT IT.this is why goverments cover it up all the time and wont admit its happening.I BELIEVE THEY TRULY CARE ABOUT THIS PLANET.
my friend was quite skeptical when i asked her about UFO, tonight she has completely changed her mind, she spotted 6 red lights in the sky and asked if there were fireworks somewhere after passing some trees as we were in the car, the lights were still there, bemused i thought they maybe stars as they did not move, but they still glowed red, we stopped in a lay by and looked at the six glowing red objects in the sky, then they started moving 5 went to the left and 1 to the right moving off and then disappearing, for us to see them that long and to stop the car it must have been about 10 mins at least that we observed these lights, my friend is not skeptical now and believes that there was something definitely there.
i like many others last night while out with a friend was shocked to suddenly see a very fast moving glowing orange ball with what appeared to be a jet stream behind it in the sky we both jumped out of the car to watch it it was ten o clock at night it vanished as quickly as it appeared it was travelling in a straight line and there was no sound i have seen planes and other moving objects in the sky but never anything like this jersey channel isle 25 sept 2008

i believe i have seen two ufos the first was in 1982 wimbledon while i was looking through the open sunroof of my car i noticied a very bright light resembling a star it started to move slowly downwards it then shot at speed to the right then stopped dead then it shot to the left in equall distances apart, and stopped dead then it shot straight up, and it was gone.the second was just a few days ago in worthing i was in the back garden looking into the night sky i noticed what i thought was a satalite moving slowly from the south nothing unusaul see them quiet often only difference this was larger and brighter, it then started to change direction and turn back on its like a u turn but in a direction moving more to the left it then just suddenly dissapeared, i would imagine a lot of people see the same thing all the time but never mention it, in both cases, i cant see any thing from this planet being able to manage to move the way they did.

We cannot dismiss all of these sightings as the imaginings of a nation stressed to the point of paranoid hallucination; failing this, the result of some completely natural, though somewhat unusual, physical occurrence. Something very, very strange is happening, and it's building. There is only one single scenario where these two facts would occur together, and where Item 2 is absolutely essential. And that is if these UFOs are from this planet and from our own future. If so, appearances of UFOs should be around major events, ie. world wars, assassinations, natural catastrophes and major incidents. It would be paramount that they did not contact us on the grounds that it would cause a kind of closed time loop with their past and our future, and would, in any case, probably be literally unattainable under the laws of physics. In any case, the inhabitants of this planet are totally mad: half are worried about saving the planet from global warming, while the other half pays inflated taxes for nuclear weapons that would destroy the planet. If I were an alien of only average intelligence, the last thing I would do would be to initiate any form of contact.
Is there intelligent life out there? It's a statistical certainty, given the number of extra-solar planets already found around nearby stars, the number of stars in the galaxy, and the number of galaxies in the observable universe.

Ufo's are real. there is an extra-terrestrial presence, but also terrestrial vehicles have been reconstructed also. If you have never seen "The secret nasa transmissions vol.1 & 2" then you need to give it some attention. The film is unedited, untouched actual nasa footage of a mission they had to do for a massive antenna and hundreds of ufo's were seen and actually acknowledged by the crew who were in a space walk. I fly planes for Fedex. I have seen at least 20 alien craft so far. In fact, now when I see them, it's just another day. However, my favorite sighting is 5 years ago. Altitude was almost 10,000 ft, an alien craft glowing redish aligned parallel with me (on my left) not more than 200 meter apart. After flying parallel with me for about 30 seconds it simply passed me at incredible speed. I was going 600 mph, the alien craft must have been going 3-4000 mph. What is curious to me, is that people actually don't believe in this. Well, believe it.

Bulgaria, Varna.On 29.05.2007, 5.00 in the morning I saw 20-25 flying objects(almost a flying squadron). I woke up because the battery of my GSM that I charged in the evening screamed and drowned out. I went on the balcony to see what happened and then I saw them. At first I thought them for planes.But I remember that so many planes cannot fly together in such order.A minute later I saw black letters of some unknown to me alphabet!? dropping from them and forming words on dawning grey sky. I told this to my colleagues - I work for the Bulgarian Navy. On 15 July I've read in the papers that Turkish army officers have noticed similar flying objects over Istambul.
I saw three UFOs at Daniel's Park in Colorado. It was daylight, and I and a friend watched them for five minutes. They were not aware of our presence until my friend moved (we were standing by a tree). One of the UFOs flew toward us, we got in our car and were driving away when it flew directly over our car and was over us for about one minute. It flew back to the other UFOs and left in the direction they had come. No they were not weather ballons, clouds or any other phenomenon other than UFOs about 15 feet in diameter. The object that flew over our car had no propellers, no seams in it's structure and made no noise. I have no idea how that UFO was able to fly, but fly it did. This incident was never reported by us because my friend was in the Air Force and said he feared the Air Force would discharge him if he reported it.

I personally have seen numerous UFO's, from dancing lights in the sky, to fireballs in the sky less than 100m from me, lost over 2 hours that evening, to the strangest, which was a very cross like shape that disappeared in a rainbow flash of light...looked very star trekkie type special effects....weird
I saw a strange large barn size object in a field,a few miles from RAF Boulmer ,11pm foggy Oct-Nov saturday night,some 19 years ago .It was like someone was welding in side of this object,as light was filtering through vents on the side of it.I got quite close (100yds)and two stick thin white figures elongated heads came out and stood and stared in my direction,at which point i ran.

Last night i saw little creatures, maybe 2 foot tall, with 3 fingers on each hand. There can be no doubt that life has found expression throughout the universe, and across dimensions as yet unfathomed, in unknown energy states, both eternities older than we, as well as younger undoubtedly exist, the infinite possibilities are without doubt brimming with many beings which would look upon the extreme number of individual living componants of our own bodies, and wonder that we percieve ourselves as individuals. Though science has an inkling as regards the existance and workingss of RNA and DNA, and of course the Mitachondrial DNA which find ways to build us from soil and water. That we may not be native to this world may well be the case...though we often hear of "junk" DNA, and claims that we use a tiny fraction of our mamalian brain, these assertions only prove that we do not truly understand the functioning of these any more than we realize that our reptilian brain at the top of our spinal column handles a great deal of the traffic between the mamal, reptile, bacteri al, and fiber, optical, audible and olifactory subsystems which describe only a minute fraction of what a human being is composed of, though it's really all just soil and water, and built of innumerable individuals cooperating to carry out some instructions dictated by what may be thought of as a worm, itself composed of many individuals, composed of the same matter, cooperating to be that worm (mitachindria). How silly we are to think of our little world as being some treasure trove which creatures more advanced than ourselves desire to loot, what larceny drives us to this idea? Perhaps we just taste good, or make nice pets, or are almost as fascinating to children of "aliens" as goldfish, so the ride out to this part of the backyard in their interstellar tricycles, to see us, and maybe poke at us to see if we squirm. We could be the "ant farm" of some race of dullards who tire of us every now and then and stir up the soil so that we'll start up again, and see if we make any more inte resting tunnels and paths, and mounds. I doubt this would be considered an interesting place for advanced races of vacationers, since other than a scap of tinsel and a bit of paint not much seperates our vacation wonderlands from our dismal industrial centers. Anyone seriously regarding existance as a human being is surely moved toward very risky behaviors, in an effort to avoid suicide just to see what might happen to our identity as "self" once the animal in which we dwell has ceased to function. The very least we could do would be to think up some more intricate and believable mythologies to frighten our children into desired behavioral patterns with...oh wait, some "adults" buy into that bather, bluster, bluff, and bull excretia. Remember to give apes machine guns and savages pogo sticks, while setting fire to rainforests and paving over every la st blade of grass, and do it quick, because some religious nut is sure to nuke us all to a new level of existance or whatever any minute, if we are lucky.

I think a good question to ask here in 2008 is "Who has not seen a UFO?" I don't know a single person that has not in there lives seen at least one or more. A very interesting article, and collection of comments by your readers! I saw a silver saucer close in daylight in Florida at the end of August 1967, after a dog began to bark at it hysterically. Two of us turned around and saw it hovering silently above the street about 100 meters away. As I ran forward for a better look, it zipped off over the trees and was out of sight in 2-3 seconds. Photographs of the same style of craft were taken in Europe in 1973. Regarding English crop pictures, it may be worthwhile noting here that they do not seem to be associated with UFOs per se, but rather with an even more advanced form of spacetime technology known as "wormholes" or "portals", an offshoot of Einstein's general relativity . Hence the makers of those crop pictures do not currently seem to be residing in our own local space and time. That is also why they said at the end of their Crabwood message in 2002 "conduit closing", because such messages are coming to us through a tunnel, wormhole or conduit in spacetime, almost say as for a SETI message from a distant star. As such, they seem very scientifically interesting, and certainly nothing to be afraid of!
i was a sceptic until i wittnessed a ufo,it was truly mind blowing. nothing prepares you for it but when it happens it opens your mind ufos are a fact and they are studying our world the only non believers are those who havent looked at the evidence or read the reports on sightings.

I'd always taken UFO sightings with a grain of salt - after sleeping in deserts and on moutains, and flying in planes, yet seeing absolutely nothing. Until last September, when seven of us, in a house on the seafront at Herne Bay, saw two bright orange orbs of energy overhead. They were 'gliding' along the Thames estuary towards the sea. Although they were close, there was no noise - and no sign of any air balloon or its gondola. If it wasn't the military, who or what was it?

Then it deflates as some candles go out and often catches on fire and looks really odd. One night I saw one, knew what it was but it still gives you the willies. It is much odder and bigger looking than you'd expect.

Four years ago while driving at night with a friend, I was playing with my cell phone (I had just gotten it, and it was my first one. You all remember how it is.) She gasped, and said "Oh my god, look!" and there were three golden lights in the form of a triangle. I've seen yellowish lighting, but this was such a deep, yet bright gold color, it gave me the chills. It was over the horizon quite far away, and it had to have been at least the size of 3 football fields. After about 30 seconds, the lights got really bright, and disappeared. We started calling all of our friends, and of course....no one believes us.

What some people do not understand is that mass can be eliminated into a suspended and still cohesive unit by means of a technology that uses, I imagine, both gravitational and frequency as methods of stimulating the mass to change it's nature and pose no problem such as distance...think of how fast a craft could go if it could literally distort the space around itself, pulling itself thru a type of self induced black hole, carefully controlled. I've got a few minutes now. I had been commuting for a while. ... I read "Foucaults Pendulum" some five years ago, and it's one of the books I keep re-reading; the style is wonderful, and Eco's erudition almost unparalleled. He describes a couple of Italian students, one of whom, Belbo, gets into serious trouble when the story that he and his friend, Casaubon is writing gets out of control. It's a hard story to summarise, but in the end Belbo encounters a real group who call themselves the Tres; and because of the skill with which he and his friend have constructed their fantasy, they telephone him; "we're the Tres. And you know more about the Tres than we do". It's scary and at that point, gripping. Belbo no longer has the ability to act within the real world; he is trapped in a world that he no longer understands. I think that the coincidence of the dangers now exposed in the financial world and the UFO sightings are disturbing, because in some way they support a growing feeling that there is a profound disconnection to the real in the Western world. Daily Telegraph readers often point out the absurd nature of taxation and general financial governance under Labour, and perhaps don't go far enough... The Economist (for instance) ran an article about the effect that Sovereign Wealth funds are having on the New York Stock exchange, and in some ways this parallels the anxieties that are evident in the novel. Belbo cannot live with the conclusions of his actions. Frighteningly, some measure of delusion has crossed into areas of life that no-one would ever have thought related to finance. sightings - more like apparitions. Well, that's it really. I'm a bit surprised that my post generated such interest.

As a retired airline training captain with many sightings, I know that waiting for òfficial`confirmation is hopeless. Go to www.theyfly.com and re-educate yourself, especially the sarcastic doubters. No its not a fraud, as the debunkers would like you to believe. We have had and still have open one on one contact with et. This lot are our common ancestors, so they are Caucasian looking, 1500 years ahead of us on tech. I find it hard to believe that, in this day and age, all these people saw UFOs and yet none of them filmed them on a mobile phone, or uploaded it on youtube! The bright white light ascending then moving away saounds like a helicopter witha searchlight to me.. I am led to believe that due to something called the van halen belt, no organic life could survive beyond this belt of radiation around our planet.. hence why the moon landings had to be faked!! So while there may be life out there, sadly it would be impossible for it to ever get here, or us to go there..
I saw 3 UFOs at the Pink Floyd concert in Hyde Park. They were minute stationary dots in a triangular formation, hovering directly above us. As more and more people began to point at them, one vanished, presumably up and away. Trying to maintain focus on two minute dots proved a lot harder. Then a second disappeared or flew off .One dot is very hard to spot especially when it's motionless. I'm inclined to believe these ones had terrestrial origins, possibly surveillance cameras of some kind. On the other hand Pink Floyd were still in their "Saucerful of Secrets" and "Interstellar Overdrive" period. Perhaps the aliens had come for the gig?
