What would you save if your house was burning down?

My technicolour dreamcoat is the only thing I've stolen. It would be a terrible shame if it went up in smoke after the trouble I went to get it. I was wearing it during the most terrifying moment of my life - the opening night of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was fear beyond compare. When we did the final run at the Palladium I was looking at it, envisaging it bundled up in storage, and it seemed such a shame that I just grabbed it.

I was racked with the most appalling guilt. I got on well with the wardrobe mistress so I confessed, and she hit the roof. Luckily Andrew Lloyd Webber and his team were very thoughtful: they said that if I wore my coat for all the promotional work I could keep it. I'm incredibly sentimental, although I'm not one of those people who doesn't chuck anything out; I don't keep used tea bags - just special mementos.

It's quite cathartic, purging yourself of old rubbish - we're in the process of decluttering our house. We've lived in this old rambling farmhouse for 15 years. The middle part is 400 years old, but everyone who's ever lived here has added bits on - it's a real hotchpotch. But though I can throw out old furniture and the like, I can't get rid of sentimental stuff.

The coat's in a suitcase in our house now, and it doesn't come out very often. I've got two very sophisticated daughters who'd rather die than see their dad in a technicoloured knitted jacket.
