One understudied way to increase Latin* students’ postsecondary success is to increase their confidence in their major and career pathways. Latin* students navigate their major and career pathways with cultural capital and assets they bring from their family and home communities that often go unrecognized and unnurtured by postsecondary institutions. This study examines how cultural capital and assets that Latin* students bring with them from their home communities shape their confidence in their major and career pathways during college. Better understanding these assets and how they influence students’ major/career confidence can potentially transform the way postsecondary educators approach supporting the major and career development of Latin* college students–with positive implications for their post-secondary and career success.
