On Sunday, Jubne 23rd, 2002, at 1200 Broadway in NYC from 3:00P.M. to 10:00P.M. jazz was flowing, from several rooms! It was like a mini jazz festival, with plenty of food, beer, wine, and great music. Many top notch musicians played and donated their time and the stars came out in support of an organization that is there for the musician who lacks health benefits, insurance, and needs help with a drinking or drug problem. The backroom had a small upright piano, drums, and bass and featured Ellis The Nazarene,on piano, Hank Johnson,on piano and John Ore on bass. In the main room Cedar Walton,Junior Mance,Jimmy Owens and crew delighted the music hungry crowd. It was a wonderful swinging event. On September 23rd, 2002 the foundation is planning another fund raiser at piossibly the Apollo in Harlem.
