The combined severe weather threat forecast gives you an easy way to if you have to be concerned about any type of severe thunderstorm weather- tornadoes, severe wind gusts and large hail.
The southern half of Lower Michigan is currently in the severe weather forecast area from Pentwater to Mount Pleasant to Bay City and southward.

The Storm Prediction Center made an interesting shape for the tornado forecast tomorrow. The graphic below shows an area that could have a tornado or two from southeast of Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo to Lansing, Alma, Ann Arbor and Jackson.

This type of pattern typically leans toward straight-line winds rushing out of the leading edge of a line of storms. The forecast below would give the idea the southern half of Lower Michigan could have scattered severe wind gusts.

Large hail can occur in any severe thunderstorm. If individual supercell thunderstorms develop, hail could occur.

SPC does mention there is enough shear that they almost favor the idea of a few supercell thunderstorms. Supercell thunderstorms are the type of storm that develops tornadoes.
