I don't think it matters much if you are a huge NIN fan or not this is a great addition to your HD-DVD collections. This HD-DVD is what I am hoping all live concert HD-DVDs will be like. The video & sound quality is simply wonderful. Nine Inch Nails Live - Beside You in Time [HD DVD]

I have been a huge Nine Inch Nails since I was a teenager. NIN has changed over the years and evolved alongside me. Though some of the angst of previous years is gone, NIN has never sounded better. A great HD follow-up to And All That Could Have Been (another excellent live DVD.)

Even if you do not typically enjoy NIN, there is no better way to test or enjoy a good surround set up. I recently finished installing a high quality 7.1 THX surround setup and used this Blu-Ray to configure and test. There is a great optimization/test feature on the disc that allows you to ensure every channel is operating properly. Once configured, the concert pushes your system to the limit. The audio is perfectly mixed and the video is crystal clear. Trent Reznor is a perfectionist and it shows how expertly crafted and recorded this experience is. It's hard to replicate the feeling of being at a concert but this is as close as you can get to experiencing NIN Live at the comfort of your couch.

The track list is an updated version of AATCHB swapping some tracks from The Fragile for some from With Teeth. While WT is not my favorite album, the tracks here are standouts from that album. All of the favorites from past albums remain though and Trent trades some of the emotion from previous years for precision. A lot changed for Trent between The Fragile and With Teeth; getting sober and learning how to deal with past insecurities along with maturation and aging has led to a loss of some of the anger previous releases have had. Trent is still far from a bright and sunny person but you can tell he is no longer caught in a downward spiral of self destruction. Trent went from a skinny junkie looking guy to a meat head looking guy. My only complaint about this and all modern performances is the constant interjections of "YEAH!" "HEY!" and "Come On!" between verses. It is distracting and annoying. Otherwise Trent who has never been a traditionally good singer has gotten quite good at refining his voice. While his screaming is less frequent and believable, his voice is better than ever.

All in all this is highly recommended to NIN fans, audiophiles, and anyone who wants to experience a truly High Definition audio/visual experience.

First things first, I hope this review is going back to the seller - and maybe it is not - but as a Prime member for years, I promise you this used disc got to me ALMOST as quickly! So kudos. This was one of those occasions (as happens far too often) where I was looking for this disc when the NIN tour was announced and of course ... couldn't find it because I know I let a friend borrow it and yet they claim they didn't. This was also one of those occasions where if I just waited a day, I wouldn't even care to watch this thing. That said, I did not ... but I said ... you know what, I'll go used! So go used I did, the disc insanely shipped THAT NIGHT (late) and got to me in 3 days which includes a Sunday so kudos to you seller. About the disc ... if you love NIN, buy it for the surround sound mix alone ... all of his records should be mixed in this format and this gives you that. Visual production is NOT his best - but so what, Something I Can Never have and Burn are on it ... what more do you need?

The video "Beside You In Time" documents two shows of Nine Inch Nails during their "With Teeth" tour in 2005. It was shot in a span of two days all in high definition. The Blu Ray format really brings out high def to your TV screen. The visual aspect of this show is amazing. The lights and the stage show is phenomenal and it looks like you can reach out and touch Trent. The song setlist is amazing and the overall show is so full of energy.

Trent is back and sober this time. He has gained a ton of muscle and has a whole new band to support NIN. One being the bassist of former protege Marilyn Manson. His new lineup is filled with the absolute best rhythm group ever. Jeordie is ferocious on bass, Aaron North is like a demented windmill and Freese is a solid drummer who never misses a beat. Along with the band is Alessandro Cortini who handles the intricate synths and keys. This high-energy band replicates the NIN catalogue with dignity and respect to its original recordings, but each member adds a certain element to the songs, one notably is a slight change at the end of "Terrible Lie".

The video also includes a short show from the summmer tour and music videos in the "With Teeth" era. Some of the music videos actually consist of live rehearsals. Overall this is a great buy with the high-def visual candy and the 5.1 Dolby/DTS surround. It showcases the new age of Trent and is packed full of energy that the past tours lacked or made up with make up and smashing. This is quite a show to see in high-def.

so.. even though i am an avid nine inch nails fan and saw them 8 times during the tours that are documented in this dvd, i wasn't expecting much from the dvd. But, I needed it because it was something by nin and i need to own everything. well, when i got it in the mail i sat down and watched and cried. I don't know if it makes me feel like i am there but it defenitly made me feel, in some ways, how i do at their show.... minus the broken ribs from being smashed against the bar all in the name of trent! I know how this sounds but i really felt lucky to have nine inch nails as part of my life. It also made me want to go out and buy an hd dvd player and the hd dvd version of the disc because the details are so amazing. they have really outdone themselves this time. what they started with the other live dvd they mastered with this one.

if you don't like nin then i would recommend this dvd and can almost guarentee that you will fall in love with them and hopefully feel a little bit of how happy they make me.

if you do like nin, then why don't you own this yet?! go buy it!

Very long time fan of NIN, although I don't follow them quite a much as I used to when I was younger. Saw them live five times, the first of which was at the Universal Amphitheater in Hollywood during The Downward Spiral tour when he filmed the video to Hurt.

I recently put in a home theater system with a front projector and 109" screen. I've been watching a lot of blu-ray concerts and am surprised at home many of them are released on blu-ray when the PQ is obviously a lot less than up to snuff. That isn't the case here. The picture quality is superb for a live concert video. The sound quality is also pretty epic. The thing I like the most about the SQ is nearly each song is shot at a different venue and you can truly hear the acoustics of the venue. They didn't strong arm the mix to mitigate the effect, as it should be, so it feels authentic.

One of the best concert BDs I own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wie immer nahe der Perfektion....
Reviewed in Germany on March 6, 2007
Nach der ersten superben Live-DVD "And All That Could Have Been" ist man natürlich gespannt, ob der Nachfolger die gleiche Klasse und auch Qualität besitzt. Und diese Erwartungen erfüllt "Beside you in time" ohne Probleme.
