Coverage of the Peoples Assembly by Fourman Films
Having attended many Stop the War Demonstrations over the years I began noticing that massive numbers of people were attending these protests and that the media and the Police who provide the 'official figures' were either not reporting the demo at all or were massively undereporting numbers. With the debate raging as to the numbers at protests common folk at home might not realise that their is a massive anti war anti government movement going on. Additionally the Police tactics of Kettling protesters for hours and their insistance of initiating riot squad actions which would push an otherwise peaceful crowd into a cramped log jam is a deliberate attempt to reduce the numbers of this massive movement. As is the tactic of delaying the march so that they miss the speeches at the end. None the less my campaign to shame major media outlets appaling coverage of these protests led to the development of my technique where I film the entire protest then sped it up so that over an hour of footage can be viewed in under 10 minutes. I want others to watch these videos and consider implementing it in other places in the world to accurately report crowd numbers. I have had my complaint against the BBC upheld and investigated. I also shamed them into providing helicopter coverage of Demonstrations for the first time in the 7 years I have been attending these events by pointing out that they were eager to have helicopter coverage of the Nth'n Ireland Peace Demos because it matched the government agenda at the time however they had never had a helicopter in the air for any demo in London in 9 years. The week after my letter I saw the BBC helicopter in the air for the first time. PLease enjoy these videos and look out for more. If you do your own footage in the same technique let me see the results and I will include it on this playlist. This technique has also resulted in the BBC not reporting numbers at protests as internal debate rages within its walls. Welcome to the YOU COUNT THEM! method of scrutinising press and police reporting of crowd numbers at protests.
With the troops coming home form Iraq and the Government promising a full enquiry into the Iraq Debacle it is time that a full criminal enquiry is also focussed at the main players involved int he dossier and its wording which led us to war. The New Feature Documentary Film, by Fourman Films. Shot Edited and uploaded on Valentines Weekend 2009. Covering the Valentines Day London Departure of a massive convoy of trucks ambulances and millions in Humanitarian Aid all gathered by thousands of ordinary people from Great Britain in the past fortnight. Most of the media did not cover this event prefering to cover the arrest of 9 people under anti terror legislation. All but three of them have so far been released. there has been hundreds of thousands of British people searched under this legislation. Only one in every 400 stop and searches carried out under sweeping anti-terrorism laws leads to an arrest. While almost all of those arrested are Muslims, the majority of those so far convicted appear to be non-Muslims.Only three Muslims have actually been convicted under the 2000 Act and two of them have been given leave to appeal their convictions. Six of those convicted under the Terrorism Act 2000 are white and were convicted for offences such as wearing a ring or carrying a flag with the symbols of banned Loyalist organisations. The 2000 Act makes it illegal even to wear a T-shirt supporting a banned organisation. A further two non-Muslims have been convicted under the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001, one for sending a racist letter containing white powder to the office of Mohammad Sarwar MP. The Timing of these new arrests the night before Viva Palestina and the subsequent non reporting of the amazing actions of the Humanitarians featured in this film raises questions about the manipulation of the press by taxpayer funded government agencies. Proof that the Police arrested these people to try and manipulate the media was proved today when on the 19th February the remaining three were released after almost a week in custody WITHOUT CHARGE. What an absolute travesty of justice form an institution declared Institutionally racist. Time to respect the wishes of the 7/7 Families who are requesting a full enquiry into our security services after this and the forest gate fiasco. See part three at the 532 mark for the Huddersfield lads not allowed into egypt and on their way home. Nice guys one is a sucessful bussiness owner. See how the Government continues to seize money from this charitable effort and harrass these peace keepers. http://www.vivapalestina.org/alerts/GGCC_140409.htm

In March 2009 two activists Patrick Ward and Stewart Halforty from the London Stop the War Movement traveled to the Gaza Strip in Palestine with the intention of documenting the effects of the recent attack on Gaza by Israel. Taking only basic equipment they cross the border into gaza where the full horror of the attacks becomes apparent. This film remarkably shot in under 48 hours features interviews with the Samoudi family who lost 48 members of their family after Israel ordered them into a residential house which was then shelled. The lads also traveled to Gaza city and interviewed Dr Abu Shaban who is the Head of Burns and Plastic Surgery at the Shifa Hospital which saw the arrival of thousands of casulties during the attack. He gives a compelling insight into Israel's actions during the attack on Gaza and raises the question that banned and experimental weapons were tested on the Gazan civilian population. In February 2009 as Gaza lay in ruins, the true horror of what had been inflicted onto the civilian population was becoming apparent to the world. WIth demonstrations in London protesting the brutality of Israel's incursion totalling in the hundreds of thousands activists began to take action in many ways. Having formed Fourman films a few years ago and having moderate success with my first award winning film 'The Truth about Weapons of Mass Destruction' I was by that stage well known amoung London's anti war activists. I was Approached by Stuart Halforty and Patrick Ward about how to go about making a documentary film. It soon became apparent that their intention was to travel to Egypt and attempt to get themselves by any means across the border into the Gaza Strip. It soon became clear to me that they whilst lacking any semblence of self preservation they also were preparing for a risky adventure which was dangerous and for the cause. What they lacked in experience and equipment didnt matter, they were going to go. The discussion soon moved from a lack of equipment to asking if I wanted to come with them. To tell the truth I was horrified and didnt have any annual leave which was a convient excuse. If you consider that there is not enough funding support for young documentary film makers than you will understand that there is none for maverick film makers. They stand against the grain. What they lack in presentation and formalities one sees in a commercial world they are increasingly honing their skills and with the costs of prducton falling they are producing quality documentaries which do not answer to corporate media conglomerats. Documentary has become the new graffitti in a class war. An affordable way to have your say and draw peoples attention to a message. Some david and goliath confrontations have been born through this new medium. Being unable (or too scared) to travel with my activist buddies to Gaza I found myself in an unusual positon. I leant them my equipment, gave them some basic lessons (talked about every mistake i had ever made) and agreed to edit their film when (if) they returned. Some weeks later I bumped into Stuart he had returned the day before from Gaza. They had succeded. They had returned triumpantly with interviews and footage. Despite only having 48 hours in Gaza they had succeded in intervieing Dr Abu Shaban form the Gaza hospital and families who had lost many many loved ones. Some disturbing content mixed in with some serious speculation from the Doctor that experimental weapons had been targeted against civilians. A sad upsetting and compelling insight into the suffering of the Gazan people who whilst clearly suffring trauma hold them selves with dignity as they tell their stories of how their families were destroyed by a state agression which knows no compassion.
