Greenview gets on board with petrochemical facility construction, job creation

They expect development to begin in 2025 and construction in 2026.

Construction of a petrochemical facility in the MD of Greenview will bring 600 construction positions to the area, along with 50 to 70 full time positions once building is complete.

Greenview signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Interprovincial Fuel Solutions (IFS) Ltd. to develop the 600 million dollar facility in the industrial gateway for the manufacture of synthetic low-carbon gasoline.

They expect development to begin in 2025 and construction in 2026.

The facility would also get rid of carbon dioxide waste.

Reeve Tyler Olsen said the gasoline produced here will have the lowest carbon intensity score on the market, most of it potentially used in the Grande Prairie region.

It will also create local business opportunity, added Olsen, and “substantial taxes municipally, provincially, and federally. The development of hydrogen is very exciting and highlights that this region is moving in the right direction.”

IFS works to contribute towards the net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 goal by creating low-carbon synthetic motor gasoline, reducing CO2 emissions by 98 per cent.
