If you have damaged your skin then be very very careful what you put on it as it needs to heal.

You might be best checking with a pharmacist as to the best thing to put on it to help it heal.

Makeup is probably not a good idea.

Clinique and MAC do one if you have any of those local eg Boots or House of Fraser or Selfridges.

Stage makeup is also pretty good but really got good for your skin especially if it's damaged.

A hat could also be an idea to cover it without makeup.

I get my face and neck lasered and waxed. The salon gave me some aloe vera to put on my face just in case it was burned or inflamed. Your chemist is the best place to go. If you treat the wound properly to start with it will heal so much quicker.

Nobody will notice - everybody is so wrapped up in their own little world.

Did you tell the salon that you were taking the tablets?

suzie, it's not wise to cover a scar or wound with make-up. it's best to leave it 'open', covering it up especially with make-up could cause infection and make the scarred parts take longer to heal. there might also be a possibility of you face healing leaving marks where the scars were. i'd recommend using aloe vera in its purest form on the scars.

Suzie, I have a massive scar between my eyes cos I put cream on a spot, then had an allergic reation to the cream. I made the mistake of covering it up with make up for work and it got infected. I ended up looking like the elephant man and 10 years later I still have the scar despite using bio oil on it for years. I keep getting told I haven't rubbed my moisturiser in properly as the scar is very white, and no make up will cover it. Leave your skin to breathe and heal. It is a lot easier facing people with the marks on a short term basis than trying unsuccessfully to cover them for the rest of your life.

never, ever get waxed for facial hair. is a waste of time as it either misses hair, or as you have described takes a layer of your face off. i have also had problems with acne and taken roaccutane in the past and get my facial hair threaded instead. this is an indian method of hair removal where the beautician uses two pieces of cotton intertwined to pluck out smaller sections of you r hair (so is also less painful than waxing) and has been very successful for me.

it costs about £6-7 a go for brows and you can get other areas done as well - needs doing every three weeks with plucking stargglers inbetween keeping you tidy. ask around or look for a reputable salon which does this. waxing is broccoli and i would never, ever entertain the idea for any part of my body again. in the mean time, use something like bepanthen nappy rash cream to calm your face down and promote healing, but you will just have to hide - if you put stuff on it to disguise it, you may well end up infecting your skin. good luck, sweetie x

If you are on roaccutane then you need to be extremely careful - go to your local walk-in NHS centre, or ring up NHS Direct 0845 46 47 and ask for some advice. Did your doctor not tell you to be so careful of what you put on your skin while you on on the treatment? I know someone who was on that drug and she had strict instructions what to do and what not to do. I'm sorry you are in a bad way but makeup may only made it many times worse in the long run!

no worries suzie - i really would stick to threading. waxing is such a dodgy process it can just go so wrong. i wish i could do threading myself. have you any idea how i could learn? x
