My latest acquisition - a brace of Agrati Capri scooters Black one: Wire-wheeled '58 model. Missing engine (should be a 70cc), mostly repainted (though some time ago and not stored all that well) and mostly all there ;D The other one: Disc-wheeled '60 model. Seventies cut-down skellie with an 80cc engine. Mostly a shed, but mostly all there ;D Plans? Well, first thing is to get them registered Then the bodywork will be repainted (two-tone pastel shades - blue and white, for example), fit a brake light (they never had them!), custom (though period looking) tail light and indicators ( ), all fitted up with the stock chrome, etc, whitewall tyres on disc wheels, and looking very standard and 'period'. But it won't be a two-stroke. There's a nice square engine bay in there, and I reckon there's room for a little four-stroke (up to about 200cc) single or twin. I need to get measuring. I'm thinking 125cc pitbike engine, or something like a CG125 unit, or perhaps even a RAM 170E quad engine... Depending upon what other parts/panels I can find, the other one may even match... Dale

never heard of them before but must say they do look very nice, definetly better in my eyes than a vespa but i must ask why change to a 4 stroke? to me a screaming 2 stroke seems more appropriate ttfn glenn

Oh my godddd!
Thats absolutely gorgeous. I only just bought my 'eightiesmobile' style scooter, and theres one of those 30 miles from me at £275. Predictably it will probably shoot up but my god thats a good compromise for an overpriced vespa/lambretta.
That really is a future project for me.

Never seen, never heard of one. Lovely though, I have a thing for scooters, and have had my fair share over the years. Garelli made them ? GOOGLE says they look like this:

Garelli did indeed make a 'version' of them later, but they're very different under the skin, even if they look outwardly almost identical. Agrati was an Italian manufacturer in its own right. These are quite strange in that they're a lot less common than Vespas/Lambrettas, yet worth nowhere near as much as similarly rare European scooters. I think part of the reason is parts availability and the fact that they're a 'small frame' scooter with a small engine. A really nice 'on the road' Capri is usually cheaper than a 'project' Lambretta! And the lack of value is why I'm more than happy to convert it to a more civilized four stroke. I'm not really a two stroke fan, and I think a little four stroke will enable this to cruise along nice and quiet, making it infinitely more useable

i have a pair of these aswell sitting dorment in the shed, next to several vespa's and a lammy!!
from what i can remember from the last time i saw it, there is bags of room under the rear body to fit a modern auto 4 stroke engine from a piaggo skipper or similar
its been done now 1000's times to lambrettas, fitting dragster motors etc, get onto a few scooter forums and you will find auto lammys which is basically the same idea
the capri is a funny thing tho, its like its made from the parts bin, vespa style headset but in 2 parts like a lambretta, vespa rear brake pedal, lambretta style frame and bodywork etc.....
if your gona ditch an engine lemme know as the layshaft is broken on one of mine

Plus, with it originally being chain drive, a little manual 125-200 must be easier to hook up? A pitbike or quad engine (though not the C90-based engines as they're too long to fit in - it needs an 'upright' engine) would be better still, as they're already geared for small wheels. I can't see an ordinary bike engine being geared so suitably... the capri is a funny thing tho, its like its made from the parts bin, vespa style headset but in 2 parts like a lambretta, vespa rear brake pedal, lambretta style frame and bodywork etc..... if your gona ditch an engine lemme know as the layshaft is broken on one of mine No idea as to the 'parts bin-ness' of them, but only the cutdown has an engine, so that one will stay for now... Nothing's happened to these or my TR7 yet as I'm still waiting to reclaim my garage.. I have bought a pair of new disc wheels though!

The more I think about these, the more I realise that I'm really unlikely to do anything with them for a very, very long time. Bikes, rather than scooters, are more my thing, so this whole lot is tentatively 'For Sale' or swap/deal for something along the lines of an old Brit bike/BMW twin/interesting bike, project or not, even just a frame/V5C...
Anyone interested? Remember, there's anough here to build more than one bike, and loads has been done already...
