Obama's peace prize win defended

Nobel Peace Prize committee head Thorbjoern Jagland has defended his body's choice of Barack Obama as the 2009 winner.

One journalist asked whether the choice could be seen as a "direct intervention in US politics". Mr Jagland denied this was the case and said the award was for Mr Obama's "extraordinary efforts".
