When attempting to install OmniPage 17 Standard on Windows 7, the following error message may appear:
The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
Solution:
In order to install OmniPage 17 Standard on Windows 7, a new "AutoRun.ini" file is needed to allow the installation to complete.
To install OmniPage 17 Standard on Windows 7:
- Close all programs running on the computer.
- Insert the OmniPage 17 disc into the CD-ROM drive. If the installation starts automatically, select the proper language from the Installation window and then click the "Browse CD" button to display the contents of the installation disc.
Note: If the Installation window does not appear automatically, browse to the CD manually by navigating to "My Computer" and then double-clicking the CD-ROM drive. - Select all of the files (CTRL + A) on the CD-ROM drive, then copy the selected files (CTRL + C).
- Create a new folder on the hard drive (such as "C:\OP17") and paste the files (CTRL + V) copied from the CD to the new folder.
- Download the updated "AutoRun.ini" file here.
- Replace the existing "AutoRun.ini" file in the new folder with the file downloaded in Step 6.
- Double-click the "AutoRun.exe" file in the new folder to start the installation of OmniPage 17.
