When Kida and handsome British expat, Miles, crash into each other- quite literally- one morning, neither is expecting the instant attraction that draws them to one another. He is handsome, intelligent and looks at Kida in a way no man ever has before.
As a shy, twenty-five-year-old single woman, living and working in New York City certainly has its challenges, but Kida's best friend, James, has always been there to lend a helping hand. He's a man Kida has always had stronger feelings for, but is afraid to take the next step with. After all, what would an outgoing, ex-footballer see in her?
When both men start to shower her with affection, will Kida be able to choose between them, or will she lose them both forever?
Authors note: This is not your traditional HEA or even HFN...things with Kida and her two love interests are unconventional, but totally worth the read. It is Part 1 of 3 for Kida, Miles and James’ story.

This is a great start for a debut author; this is a compelling story from beginning to end. This story has lots to keep you reading; love interests, a hateful creature you want to see bludgeoned to death and a crazy family to deal with.
I felt a lot of sympathy for Kida and her dilemma. How was she supposed to choose between these two gorgeous specimens? I loved the way both men feel for her, it gave me all the feels, made my heart flutter.
I certainly couldn't wait to find out how Kida worked out her feelings for the two perfect men who she is lucky enough to have falling for her. I got to know the main character, Kida, and a lot of her family, as well as the two men in her life, James and Miles, very well by the end of the book.
I am looking forward to reading more about this trio in the next two books in this series.
eeeeppp!! I love love love it! The right amount steamy sexiness, the right amount of drama and tension, the right amount of plot and character development; for a debut book Kiera Jayne hit it out of the park! Re-reading it now, and I'm still just as giddy with it within the first few pages. Kida is funny, snarky, smart, and independent. James is a goofball, sexy, athlete type. Kida and James have known each other for ages and work together. James gets Kida. They get each other. They're like best friends that take their friendship beyond platonic. Miles is sexy in an intellectual way but - well, picture Mr. Grey with a british accent and there you have Miles. Except instead of a wealthy billionare business executive he's a well to do college professor.....yes...with all of those deeply sensual nuances. Miles is intriguing and beguiling and sweeps Kida off her feet. When faced with this situation that she may have equally strong feelings for both men, Kida wrestles with how to navigate this love triangle. The pacing and descriptions of this book pull you into all three of their lives. It may have you asking yourself the very same questions that Kida wrestles with. Kiera does a fabulous job of making the reader understand her deliemma. The characters are really well rounded and developed, nobody is over the top good or bad and each one has their faults, as do most people. The supporting characters, Kida's family, James' family, and Kida & James' coworkers are all well done so that nobody seems superfluous. There will another book in this seriese and I can't wait to read it!
Keep your eye on this one - she's got some good stuff coming, I can feel it!
Well, that was UNEXPECTED! I did not see this story going the direction it went. Kida and James are best of friends (they obviously love each other) but Kida wants to maintain the friendship she loves James too much to lose him over sex. James comes to realize he loves her too but he feels exactly the same as Kida.
Kida is a fun loving soul, who tries to do her best at work and in her life. Her twin sister is has been keeping her at a distance and Kida feels hurt. They are a tight nit family and with her sister pulling away she feels lonely even lost.
Kida meets Miles one day at the coffee shop when she bumps into him literally! Instant chemistry! Miles seems like an awesome guy and soon Kida is developing feelings for him. Miles is from the UK and with Kida being from Australia she feels almost at home with him.
Life isn’t always easy, nothing is always black and white. Sometimes lines get blurred, sometimes love can not just be divided or even make you choose one way or the other. Maybe in life you don’t have choose between people you love. Maybe, just maybe you can love more than one person and in return they accept that. I don't know what is in store for Kida, James and Miles, but I look forward to finding out!
Kida knows that James is her best friend and she doesn’t want to ruin that with him, although she knows the chemistry she feels around him. James can’t understand what is holding Kida back he wants more with her, he knows they would work. When Kida meets Miles, she can feel the spark and agrees to go on a date with him, which leads to further dates, Miles knows their attraction was instant and wants something he hasn’t wanted before. Miles and Kida date and the attraction is hard to deny. After sharing a kiss with James, they both want more, although confuses as to what they are, and neither of them wanting to stop, James says their best friends with benefits. Kida becomes confused wondering what type of person she is to want two men at the same time, with neither knowing about the other, when Kida realises that she’s in love with both James and Miles she decides the only thing to do is stop seeing them both. When Kida has enough liquid courage, and takes on Miles advice to tell James, although it doesn’t work out how she thought it would. When you start to wonder if Kida can ever have her happily ever after with the men she loves after what James said to her, a twist is thrown in, making you wonder if it can be possible for her to get the ending that she wants.

Unexpected is the debut novel and first book in the Marked for Love Trilogy by author Keira Jayne. I was immediately engrossed in this story, which is filled with drama, angst, and many unexpected twists. FYI, I did not read the blurb before beginning this book, and I highly recommend you doing that too!
In this story, Kida works for a travel agency in NYC with her best friend, James. Secretly, James and Kida are both in love with each other, but they are both scared to lose their friendship. She then crashes into Miles one morning at a coffee shop, and their attraction is palpable. Kida decides to take a chance with Miles since nothing is happening with James. When James finds out Kida went out on a date, he becomes really upset.
What will happen to Kida, James, and Miles? Will she lose her friendship with James forever?
An exciting first book and am looking forward to finding out what happens next!
Kida and James have developed a close friendship over the 3 years they've worked together and have stifled their romantic feelings for each other. I like their characters. They are young adults, from different countries, stretching their wings. I liked the close relationship that Kida has with her family and how accepting they are of James. In a chance encounter, Kida meets Miles. Then the storyline takes an unexpected twist, hence the title! I really like Miles character and the British flavor he brings to the storyline. And then there's Ella, the drama queen. I didn't like her character. This book is Part 1 but it doesn't leave you at an unbearable cliffy. I'm anxious not only for the story to continue, but to see the writing growth in new Author Kiera Jayne!
I believe this is the first book written by Kiera and it was good. I will start by saying this is about a Polyamorous romance. If this is not something you are into then this is not the book for you. I will say that I felt a connection to the characters. Kida loves her best friend James, but doesn't believe he feels the same about her. She would rather love him from distance than lose his friendship. James also feels the same way about Kida. When Kida literally is pushed into Miles she feels the spark with him instantly. Miles also feels the sames spark which is unusual form him. This book takes you on a journey about finding happiness for yourself, not what others think is a normal relationship. I think the author does have really good potential in the second book.- By Linda
Kiera Jayne hit a slam dunk with her very first book! Loved it from the first to the last page. The story of Kida, James and Miles is beautifully written. An unexpected love between three people that sadly is not accepted by everybody. But love does conquer. I love how Kiera Jayne brings in the Aussie in her throughout this book. It is very refreshing and even educational. Anybody who likes a great story should read this book. The characters are very well developed and their personalities are strong. The story just flows without any hang ups and keeps you interested. Congratulations Kiera Jayne on your first release and I can't wait to read book 2 in the series. Awesome read!
Wow, this story blew me away, I could not stop reading it. Set in New York, and featuring an Aussie a Brit and an American...a girl and her two guys, this story is funny, fiesty, fast paced, and flawless. Kiera Jayne has created a beautiful and heartwarming romance out of a scenario that could easily have become bogged down in jealousy and angst. Kida, James, and Miles are wonderfully crafted, each with their own quirks and hangups, but together they become more than the sum of their parts. I am not a fan of cliffhangers, they frustrate me so I usually avoid them - however, although this book is apparently the first of three, it can be read as a standalone, the story completed, if not finished! Brilliant, I highly recommend Unexpected!
What a great debut from this author. I really enjoyed this book. I liked how you were taken on a journey to find happiness even if it doesn't confirm to societies norms. I have not read anything about Polyamorous relationships before and I found it very interesting.
Great debut writing, well paced, flowed well, and great characters you fall for.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens next with this author and this series
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the author and Forever Valentine
A really enjoyable read from a new author, I'll definitely be looking out for the next in this series. I love a good menage romance and that's exactly what I got. The characters are gorgeous portrayed, I want a bit of Miles and James for myself.
This is Kira's story, she's an Australian travel agent living her life in New York, what will she do when she fall for two men (her best friend and a Professor) at the same time? Tell them how she feels? Walk away? These men happen to be close friends and neither wants to be without her. Read it for yourself.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This is a beautifully written unconventional love story. Kida and James have been best friends and work colleagues for a few years, they both have fallen in love with the other but are to scared to Act on there feelings in fear of messing up the friendship that they have. While at her favourite coffee shop, Kida bumps into Miles a gorgeous English man, that she instantly feels an attraction to. After a few dates with Miles, Kida feels guilty for seeing someone else when her and James have changed up there relationship to friends with benefits. This story had me turning the pages dying to find out more, I can't wait to read the next in this series, it was soooo good.
Congratulations on releasing your 1st book. I really enjoyed this 3-way love story. Kida is one lucky Aussie Chick. To have the love of an ex footballer and long time best friend James and recently met Miles a sexy professor. I look forward to reading more about Kida, James and Miles story and how they cope with this unusual relationship. I also look forward to hearing about her twin sister Clair and younger sister Willa stories.
Read this story! The title is not far off of what you will read.
This is a story of deep friendships and loves. Family involvement and work relationships play a part in how Kida sees herself and her world. Can she make a choice that is so very different from what those she cares about believe she is capable of doing?
I pride myself in figuring out what will happen in the storyline. This story surprised me on so many levels!
I love the unspoken chemistry between Kida and James and most definitely was not expecting that twist! A beautiful story about an unconventional relationship, written with so much warmth and heart. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Kida has loved James forever. She ran into Miles recently .
Afraid of losing her friendship with James Kida had never said anything to him about her feelings. She is confused and upset when she realizes that she loves Miles just as much. Join Kida , James and Miles as they navigate their love since Kida can't and doesn't have to choose between the two. I look forward to more 5 stars
Great start to a series. This book is fast paced with laughs! It’s about a woman with 2 men. I loved how all 3 dealt with their situation & Kida is a very lucky lady! This is a sexy, steamy book that I could not put down!
A romantic story with Kida, James and Miles. Can a relationship involving three people last? I loved this from the beginning until the end. A steamy, sexy, fun, loving must read. I am looking forward to book 2.
This was a good read. The story has plenty to keep you interested, love interests to a crazy family, it's steamy, has tension and drama aswell. A few unexpected twists and this has winner all over it.
I picked the title for the left of center subject matter it’s fairly under represented overall. The book was alright... I wish it was t written in 3rd person
Unexpected (Marked for Love, Book 1) by Kiera Jayne
☆☆☆4 stars☆☆☆
Oh boy! Kida is one lucky girl! She has a devoted best friend in James, who's been by her side for years. Then she happens to literally run into her perfect match in Miles, and is in awe of both these gorgeous men in her life.
James and Kida have all the feels for each other, but no one wants to be the first to admit it, so they skirt around it. Miles enters Kida's life, and it's an instant attraction. They have common interests and the sexual force is strong.
In spending more time with both men, Kida realizes she may be in love with both men. Sounds amazing, but on the other hand, something is bound to mess up the perfect picture she's created for herself.
Will she choose her best friend that knows everything about her, inside and out? Or the new man in her life, that's brought a spark that she never knew was missing? Decisions...decisions...
