The 2018 STEM Learning Conference will be conducted by a consortium of the STEM subject associations and Scitech and will be held on Sunday 16 and Monday 17 September at the Crown Convention Centre. The conference driver is the ‘how to’ of STEM in line with the Making STEM Work theme. The focus is on STEM in the classroom by providing teachers and school leaders with ideas that will help them implement their own school’s STEM initiatives and stimulate thinking and discussions about the importance of STEM to our futures.

The conference will open each day with a plenary session, with the remainder of the time given over to school-focussed concurrent sessions of one hour each. The Sunday and Monday sessions will differ:

  • Sunday sessions will be external STEM providers co-presenting with school/s to highlight how their product/service advances STEM learning. This includes commercial exhibitors, university, training organisation or philanthropic STEM providers.
  • Monday sessions will be schools showcasing their programs. At the conclusion of Sunday, there will be a one hour networking sundowner in the trade display area with short, informal commercial presentations in small groups.
  • A conference dinner is planned for the Monday evening to celebrate the conference achievements and map out future directions for STEM Learning in WA.
