The purpose of this course is to review the psycologic aspects of addiction, understand who is at risk, and the legal ramifications of providing inappropriate opioid prescriptions.  We will review both the new national guidelines (CDC) as well as the state (NC Medical Board) regarding opioid prescribing.  This course is directed at all medical providers with special emphasis on primary care as the primary care provider prescribes roughly 50% of all opioid prescriptions.

Target Audience

Primary Care Practitioners (Family Practice, Internal Medicine), Adolescent Medicine, Gynecologists, Occupational Medicine Practitioners, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Practitioners, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Pharmacist, Dentist and Anesthesiology Pain Management Practitioners.
