Chloe Sevigny is taking her swing at playing Lizzie Borden. The actress is seen alongside Kristen Stewart in a first look image from their upcoming gothic psychological thriller Lizzie, which finishes out principal photography on Friday.

Directed by Craig William Macneill (The Boy), Lizzie dramatizes the events leading up to the notorious murders of the Borden family. Stewart is seen as Bridget Sullivan, a young maid who comes to work for the family. She finds “a sympathetic and kindred spirit” in Lizzie, but their “innocent companionship eventually escalates into attraction, love, and bloody vengeance.”

Also spotted are Kim Dickens of Fear the Walking Dead and Denis O’Hare, who starred in American Horror Story: Asylum with Sevigny. Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter), Jamey Sheridan (Spotlight), and Jeff Perry (Scandal) help round out the cast.

Lizzie Borden became a cultural obsession when she was infamously tried and acquitted for murdering her father and stepmother with an ax in 1892. In addition to many theories about who actually committed the killings and why, the incident spawned a haunting children’s rhyme: “Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 whacks. When the job was finally done, she gave her father 41.”
