Adam Lambert's AMA performance draws (expected) complaints

adam-lambert.JPGWhose mind is in the gutter? Here's a shot of Adam Lambert on the red carpet before Sunday night's American Music Awards show, where he would later give a sexually-charged performance that drew at least 1,500 complaints to ABC.

Adam Lambert's

sexually graphic American Music Awards performance drew more than complaints to ABC, which aired the show Sunday,

the Associated Press reports

. The socially conservative Parents Television Council asked its members to complain to ABC, Dick Clark Productions, the show's advertisers and the Federal Communications Commission.

"American teenagers – and especially teenaged girls – are literally under siege by the entertainment media," says PTC President Tim Winter. "It is outrageous that children today cannot watch a televised awards program for an industry that is built squarely on their backs."

Executives at the network were apparently caught off-guard by some elements of Lambert’s so-called “freestyle” performance, including the singer kissing a male keyboard player and thrusting a male dancer’s face into his crotch. The latter moment at least was a part of the rehearsal, though the AP says the dancer did not get as close to Lambert in the rehearsal.

But apparently leading dancer around on leashes, fondling himself and other dancers, and yanking on a part of a female dancers costume (ouch!) are hunky-dory with ABC.
