Technical Manager

Technical Manager

Location:  Stamford, England

The Chia Company Technical Manager

The Chia Company grows Chia Seed in the pristine climates of Australia and Kenya . Chia is an ancient grain and is prized for its dense nutrition; it is the highest combined source of protein, fibre and plant based omega 3.

With offices in Melbourne, New York and the UK The Chia Company is a global business and continues to grow as the health and wellness sector gathers pace and has become the focus for the major retailers. The Chia Company now produces Chia Co branded products in both chilled and ambient categories and has an exciting pipeline of new products focusing on delicious healthy flavours with clean labels.

As a result of their continued growth The Chia Company is looking to appoint a Technical Manager to further strengthen the team.

It is a complex and fascinating product group and the business supplies a number of retail and food manufacturing businesses so the role will be about product quality, product integrity and auditing however…. This role is a not ‘run of the mill’ technical role. The Chia Company is still growing and the team is small, so you will be involved in far more areas than a standard technical management role, so if that appeals this is the role for you!

Ideally they would like someone with a food technology background, but they are open as to the experience you have developed in your career to date; they would be interested in someone from fresh, chilled or ambient. They do however want a team player, they want energy, they want enthusiasm and they want technical management experience gained within a food manufacturing environment.

The role will be to manage technical function, liaising with all the worldwide technical teams as well as dealing with the customer and UK manufacturing base. There will be extensive UK and some overseas travel managing the process, visiting, auditing and developing relationships with all stakeholders.

This role will challenge you as the business is complex, dynamic and demanding. You will be responsible from a quality perspective, dealing with both long term technical strategic objectives as well as day to day issues.

You will be helping set strategy, building firm relationships with the customers and suppliers and helping drive the category forward from a technical perspective.

This is a great job in a fast moving business for a talented and ambitious technical professional.
