Benefits of Homemade Bath Salts

I used to think that there was no particularly good reason to use store-bought or homemade bath salts to bathe in. The colorful packages were nice to pass by at the convenience store, but I honestly did not have the education to teach me about the benefits of using such a thing. It always seemed to be a product of luxury or leisure.

That is, until I started learning about natural remedies (including aromatherapy) and their effects on the mind, body and soul. Did you know that using homemade bath salts actually improves circulation in the body? These bath salts are quite similar to stepping into a natural mineral bath or a hot spring in a canyon. And, like natural mineral baths and hot springs, homemade bath salts that consist of epsom salt, dead sea salt, or regular sea salt provide great skin exfoliation while restoring moisture.

Because homemade bath salts provide such awesome skin exfoliation as it opens the pores, a lot of sweat and dirt gets removed! And we all know that bacteria, sweat and dirt are what lead to pimples on the face. Just imagine the rejuvenating feeling the skin on the rest of your body is wonderfully experiencing as it's free of all that gunk. And because the pores are open and cleansed of all that said gunk, our skin can heal so much more quickly. And just imagine combining the bath with an amazing shampoo hair product to massage into the scalp for an ultimate body pampering experience. Talk about treating ourselves well from head to toe!

In addition to bacteria, sweat and dirt, there can also be instances where you have been bitten by insects, or where you have a minor skin rash or infection, or even a simple case of dry skin. There have also been cases where Athlete's Foot, Eczema, and Psoriasis...all of which has been alleviated by a simple Epsom salt bath.

But, this is not the last beneficial property of homemade bath salts. In addition to the external benefits, there are also internal benefits as well. For example, these baths help alleviate tenderness in the muscles. Muscle tension is a common issue that many of us have, especially with the daily stresses of life, and a simple epsom salt bath massaged into our joints, tendons and muscles helps out with relaxing them all.

And, what's more--a lot of these bath salts recipe incorporate wonderfully smelling fragrances from natural aromatherapy oils. From peppermint, to lemongrass, to juniper, to even chocolate, we can alleviate a lot of common ailments by breathing in the natural scents. Ailments like stress, anxiety, tension, loneliness can transition into relaxation and ease of mind with scents like lavendar and cinnamon.

Do you know how your fingers get so prune-like and wrinkled when you are in the shower for too long? That is due to the act of water being lost from the body! When you bathe with Epsom bath salts, the salts actually change up the composition of the water and provide a protective layer that prevents the water from entering/leaving our body.
