As expected, the FBI has interviewed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s friend Mark Judge, who is at the center of multiple sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh. Somewhat surprisingly, it turns out the FBI is now eyeing a second interview with Judge, amid the revelation that Donald Trump has finally caved and allowed the FBI to expand the parameters of its investigation.

After GOP Senator Jeff Flake stated this afternoon that he wouldn’t be satisfied with an FBI investigation that was merely aimed at providing “cover” for Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump relented and allowed to probe to expand. A couple hours later, Mark Judge’s attorney released this statement to the media: “Mr. Judge has been interviewed by the FBI but his interview has not been completed.” Wait a minute here.

So if Mark Judge has (past tense) been interviewed, but the interview isn’t complete, that means the FBI has informed Judge that he’s going to be interviewed a second time. It’s not known why the FBI is handling Judge in this manner. In general terms, when the FBI interviews someone and immediately informs them that there will be a second interview, it’s because they want to verify the information that’s been provided, and then come back and ask followup questions based on what’s been discovered.

This all comes amid flurry of new allegations and revelations surrounding Brett Kavanaugh tonight. Senate Judiciary Committee transcripts revealed that Kavanaugh has been accused of raping a woman in the back of a car, and that the Senate took the accusation seriously enough to privately question Kavanaugh about it. In addition, Kavanaugh got caught tampering with the witnesses in the Deborah Ramirez accusations. Then, in a bizarre story, a former drinking buddy revealed that Kavanaugh once drunkenly assaulted a guy he mistakenly thought was the lead singer of UB40.
