UN sex scandal: Video of official having sex in car goes viral; investigation launched

A clip of a UN official having sex inside an official car went viral on the internet. The organisation has launched an investigation.

The United Nations launched an investigation into a probable case of sexual misconduct after a video of its official having sex with a woman in an official car went viral.

The clip, which is from Tel Aviv, Israel, was shared extensively on Twitter. In the video, a man is seated on the back seat of a UN car with a woman in a red dress bestriding him. The driver's face is not visible, while another person is seated in the front of the vehicle.

Reportedly, the number plate of the car indicated that it belonged to the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO). The UN has a strict policy against sexual misbehavior and exploitation and also bans paying for sex. However, whether the two people were involved in consensual sex, or if the activity involved payment is not clear.

As per a report, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that the video, which was taken on HaYarkon Street in Tel Aviv, had "shocked and deeply disturbed" the UN.
