Are you ready to fire your boss? Only you now work for yourself? Where did it go? How can it possibly be a new year?
Did you hit your 2006 target for prosperity? Is the gremlin on your shoulder holding you back? What is it telling you? If the New Year brings the same on-going problems of not enough time or income, would you be ready to fire your boss? Are you ready to shift your energy and thinking?
Maria Nemeth, Ph.D., in the Energy of Money, refers to the gremlins on your shoulder as "monkey mind." These are the past tapes that hold us back such as, "Who do you think you are?" "I never win anything!" "Filthy rich," "Money isn't important," "Money is the root of all evil," and "A bake-sale mentality." If this self-talk with negative thoughts are frequently in your mind, then they are holding you back from what you are capable of accomplishing.
For many years, whenever I entered a drawing or contest, I frequently said, "I never win anything." And that is what I got. Several years ago, I changed that to say, I will win today." And believe it or not, I did and continue to win. I told this story at a networking event that I attended last year. A realtor who heard my story remembered what I said. Soon after that on her way to an event where businesses offer door prizes, she used her usual mantra where she said, "I never win anything!" Then she said to herself, "Hmm, what did Carol say?" She started repeating, "I will win today!" and went into the event singing a song about winning. She not only won a door prize that day but she won three door prizes!
These same shifts in thinking are needed to be successful. For instance, perhaps money is not the most important thing, but it is important to become crystal clear about how much money you want to make. A new way of thinking about money is this: "The more money I make, the more options I have; the more freedom I can enjoy; the more secure I feel; and the more I can do for others."
My shift in energy keeps generating prosperity. Just this morning I won the door prize at the Cherry Creek Chamber event. It is a minor thing but it signifies that we do generate energy with our thoughts. And I don't feel like firing my boss!
