The 19th Annual San Francisco Deireadh Seachtaine Gaeltachta

The dates have been set for San Francisco’s 19th annual Deireadh Seachtaine Gaeltachta (Irish immersion weekend)! Mark your calendars now for September 22 - 24, and get ready for an Irish learning experience you will never forget!

The Next Best Thing to the Gaeltacht!

Classes at the San Francisco DSG (as it’s affectionately called) are taught by native Irish speakers who have a lot of experience in helping adult learners to navigate the ins and outs of the language (and to have fun in the process!).

The classes are modeled on those taught at Oideas Gael  in Donegal, and focus on conversation and the spoken language.

There are four levels, with classes for everyone from absolute beginners to fluent speakers looking to improve and enrich their Irish.

Between classes, students have ample time to socialize and to continue practicing their Irish with each other and with the teachers at meals (or in the bar!).

Music sessions and special workshops add to the fun!

The tuition this year is $420, which includes meals and snacks.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures from last year’s DSG:

Being able to produce music and/or poetry is expected of all Irish children. Several children who are both fluent speakers and accomplished musicians regularly attend the San Francisco DSG. Photo by John Larkin.
