Halfway Point!

December 26, 2009

I’ve just passed the halfway point in my current major writing project, a graphic novel I started in early November.  Times like this are a cause for celebration in my little universe.  Marking the occasional waypoint helps motivate me to keep cooking along on lengthy projects.  On the one hand, I still have half a graphic novel to write; I won’t finish till February 2010, at the earliest.  On the other hand, I’ve already written half, which is an accomplishment in its own right.  Thus, I manage to complete novels (and graphic novels) which run for hundreds of pages, which take months of time and tons of personal sacrifice to finish.  Half down, half to go…and if I got this far, I can make it the rest of the way.  And won’t it be something when I’m done?  When I have a shiny new manuscript all ready to send out to an editor?  That’s what really makes it all worthwhile:  having another product to market, another chance to get something published.  And just like with the lottery, and so many other things in life, the more chances you take, the better the odds that you’re going to win.  Onward and upward!  See you soon!
