This abandoned underground line is opening to the public this summer
Launching on September 4, the Mail Rail will take visitors to the Postal Museum on 1km journeys that will last 20 minutes
Those heading down to the capital this summer are in for a treat in the form of an abandoned underground line.
The line is set to open to the public - and will be a must-visit for Brummies.
Mail Rail allows you to journey back in time on a specially made train through the original tunnels and station platforms under Mount Pleasant.
You can take a ride on Mail Rail from 4 September 2017 and experience 20 minutes of immersive underground exploration on the miniature trains.
Organisers say: "Descend into the former engineering depot of Mail Rail – the one hundred year old Post Office railway – board a miniature train and descend into the stalactite-filled tunnels.
"Pass deep below Royal Mail’s Mount Pleasant sorting office, see the original and largely unchanged station platforms and be transported back in time.
"Take in a theatrical experience that peels back the layers of time to the railway’s lively 1930s heyday.
"See and hear the people who worked on it, experience their lives below ground and glimpse hidden parts of the railway that kept the mail coursing through London for 22 hours every day."
