Then looking at the data I was saying ‘maybe if we do it in a different way, we can improve’. And finally, the last sector was the best one. So it’s very important to be intelligent and look at the other riders. For sure some corners you cannot always be competitive and some corners someone’s better than you and if you can learn it, it’s better than not looking at the data and then you don’t know. Q: In races you never really crash… MV: I always have the mentality that regularity can win the title. You know, it’s very important to be on the podium, for sure, or winning races. But it’s better one day to make 16 points than zero. It’s important to always have that in mind. At Suzuki sometimes I thought maybe I can make the podium, but maybe I crash like at Aragon. So I decided to make fourth because it was stupid to take more risks than I was taking at that moment. Normally on the bike I think a lot and I hope this year also I think and don’t get too ‘hot’! It’s a good qual-

ity if you can think on the bike because sometimes you get ‘hot’, don’t understand the limit and you crash. Q: Now you are in a title winning team whereas Suzuki was a small and newer team; how is atmosphere different…? MV: It’s not really different. I mean, the working style is quite similar, we talk a lot between all technical people but you feel in the atmosphere - that the changes they do on the bike - they know for sure what they are doing. That for me was impressive. That I’d say, ‘okay, now I would like to brake a little bit later here, even if later on I cannot close the corner any better’ and they just modify the bike and it does it! For me that was quite impressive. Also with the electronics they were saying that the traction control is cutting so much here and there. I say ‘no, I don’t even feel the traction control’ because is so good. For me it was impressive, how prepared they are.

VICTORIOUS MaverickVIÑALES GRAND PRIX OF QATAR

LOSAIL · MARCH 25-26th

A

Motogp Winner: Maverick Viñales, Yamaha Moto2 Winner: Franco Morbidelli, Kalex Moto3 Winner: Joan Mir, Honda

very wet weekend at Losail, Qatar, rain

came down on the MotoGP Paddocks which was complicated by flooded tracks on Saturday while Saturday’s qualifying times good enough for Maverick Viñales for pole position. Viñales arrived at the final to greet his first win in Yamaha colors. From first MotoGP winter test, Viñales showed that he is a seriously, the favourite for this year’s MotoGP title!

Meanwhile, Jorge Lorenzo’s Ducati debut in 11th position from a win last year with Yamaha clearly shows the Majorcan is still unsettle with his Ducati, and outshined by his team mate Andrea Dovizioso in second and Sunday-man, ex team mate Valentino Rossi, while worried feelings of the hard Michelin front tyre and mostly other stuff through out the weekend came in third, the reality and surprises in store for this 2017 season of MotoGP has begun. Tyre compound choice on Race Day is still the most important factor! Opening laps of Qatar shows a rookie but 2x Moto2 Champion Johann Zarco was leading by 1.6 sec until Zarco lost the front end and crashed out on the 7th lap and Andrea Iannone on the Suzuki was second, just a bump from Marquez, ending his Suzuki debut in the gravel, once again! But…with Iannone it is always there battling with the front runners without a doubt.

Aleix Espargaro’s 6th position verified the potential of the Aprilia leading to the highest classification yet for the Italians outfit.

#99 Jorge Lorenzo, Ducati ‘Disappointing’ was the word Jorge Lorenzo used to summarise his maiden Ducati appearance where he also claimed that the Desmosedici was still not ‘his’ motorcycle and he had to deal with an off-track deviation on the first lap that pushed him almost to the back of the field. All weekend Lorenzo was quizzed on how it felt to grind his new steed to an extended limit and he explained issues of transfer and rear brake emphasis. ‘The bike is still quite physical, especially when we don’t have rear grip,’ he said. ‘We need to work on making the bike easier for the Rider in all

conditions. We still need to try some new settings ‘This was not the dream debut in and the rain” something to take profit #99 Jorge Lorenzo of the strong point; which is the braking. Obviously we can take profit on the straight as we are the fastest ones and we recover a bit in the final sector. But the speed in the corners, especially when braking, we are not arriving at the limit of the bike.’

R ound two Argentina came 2 in a row and saw the back to back win for Yamaha and Maverick Viñales from sixth. Pole Marq Marques hole shot to leading by 2 seconds low sided early in the opening laps handed the lead to Viñales just after Viñales had passed Cal Crutchlow for second position few turns before. Dream start for Viñales who hold the lead in the championship standings with 50 points, closely followed by Rossi in second position with 36 points. Meanwhile, Jorge Lorenzo crashed out in the 1 st lap when Jorge touched Iannone’s rear tyre. More drama to come as the ‘Maniac’ was also given a ride through penalty soon after for a jump start, dropping him down the order and out of contention and more drama to come as like “Dejavu” ‘DesmoDovi’ went wide at Turn 5 soon after, with Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) taking the inside line and then losing the front-sliding helplessly into the Italian and both out the race. Johann Zarco placed the Tech3 Yamaha in front of his team mate Jonas Folger in fifth and Folge came in sixth to complete a good outing for Yamaha.

Although he made errors early on in both races to lose his lead, the plucky rider impressively fought his way back to the top on both occasions. Speaking after Sunday’s race, Ibrahim said: “I’m grateful to God to have achieved these victories and proud to be the overall champion this weekend. Even though I made mistakes at the start of both

Utilizing a special ground electrode design- The spark discharge can occur in almost 360 degree perimeter at the place with the most optimal air/fuel composition; which is where the ionization of the molecule is most easily achieved. This special feature ensures that the spark occurs at the best possible place for ignition, unlike in the conventional spark plug design where the spark always occurs in the same confined place. Since the air fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber is not homogenous (has different concentration at different places) this results in faster and better ignition of each ignition cycle. In addition, there is no need for indexing of the spark plugs since the plug is symmetrical and there is no ground electrode restricting the access of the air/fuel mixture. www.brisk.com.my Brisk Premium Spark is distributed by: Bikerzone Sdn.Bhd No. 1042 (Plot 546) Phase 4, Prai Industrial Estate, Lorong Perusahaan Maju 2, 13600 Prai, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia For more information on the product please call Vinci +6012 425 3659 or email ask@bikerzone.com.my
