BlueStamp Engineering (BSE) is a tech-centered engineering education company that offers hands-on learning experiences for middle through high school students. We host dynamic, remote programs year-round and operate our flagship summer program both remotely and in-person in Silicon Valley.
Our exceptional students apply to our programs, and if accepted, select and build projects of their own interests. These projects range from fitness rehab devices and LED art displays to computer vision robots and smart mirrors. Position Overview
BSE is seeking dynamic and passionate people with an engineering background to join our team for this upcoming summer (2024). As a junior instructor, you will play a pivotal role in our program by helping troubleshoot engineering projects, organizing student content and media, communicating with parents and instructors, and instructing students on how to improve their engineering portfolio.
Position Details
This is a paid position at $18/hour. The role takes place on-site at 3800 Blackford Ave. San Jose, CA. The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule and is available from June 3 - July 19, 2024, with July 4 excepted.
The first week of June is dedicated to staff training and setting up the program. After that, the summer program runs each weekday for six weeks, with the exception of July 4.
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring students’ Github portfolios and providing grammatical and technical feedback.
- Filming milestone videos and providing pointers and constructive feedback.
- Generating content for and posting on BlueStamp social media accounts.
- Communicating with parents and teachers when students accomplish goals.
- Helping students troubleshoot projects.
- Assisting with Showcase Night (evenings of July 16, 17, and 18).
- Helping students and staff with classroom organization and clean up.
- Supporting staff in their planning of projects and ordering of parts and tools.
- Providing suggestions and feedback on how to improve the student experience.
Ideal Candidate Requirements

- Desire to share the excitement of designing and engineering with high school students, while motivating students through the challenging and frustrating stages of prototype construction.
- Desire and ability to engage personally with students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to use Markdown (language used in student Github portfolios).
- Experience with content creation or social media management.
- Experience teaching/leading/mentoring others (e.g. instructor roles, youth camps, tutoring, mentoring, etc).
- Experience with building, designing, and troubleshooting devices or prototypes of similar scope to BlueStamp projects.
- Excellent communication skills, unfettered honesty and integrity, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are all a must.
In this position, you will work closely with BSE instructors and receive first-hand experience into the nuts and bolts of how BSE is operated. Strong performance in this position may serve you well in landing a 6 week position as a BSE instructor in a subsequent summer.
