New Transport Service Connects Athens Airport with Evia Island

The Halkida bridge connects Evia with the mainland of Greece.

In an effort to increase tourism flows to Evia, the island’s hoteliers association recently signed an agreement with the local KTEL Intercity Bus service for the transfer of visitors straight from the Athens International Airport.

The program will operate on a pilot scheme from July 17 to October 16 and include four daily round trips between the Athens International Airport and the cities of Halkida and Eretria. The cost of a one-way ticket is 15-17 euros/person. For more information call Lucy Hotel at +30 22210 23831.

The scheme is partially funded by the Region of Central Greece, the Chamber of Evia and the Evia Island Port Authority (OLNE).

The Evia Hoteliers Association is also planning to connect the Athens International Airport with the suburban railway in order to further facilitate travelers, who wish to visit the island at the lowest possible fare, an announcement said.

Located northeast of Athens, Evia is the second largest island of Greece. Its coastline is 48 km long and includes numerous beaches, while it is also known for its thermal springs. For more information on Evia press here.

Wonderfull engagement of the grec hoteliers association. But it seems impossible to book in advance such a ticket, since on the online-booking facility of KTEL there is no possibility to chose the Athens airport! So it is not possible to make any reservation of a ticket, what we hardly would like to assure our holidays on Evia! – May be that we would be forced to travel anywhere else when the bus should be filled up just in the mean-holiday time… – what a pitty! – Such a wonderfull portal but only restricted use! :-((

I have to add, that on the timetables of KTEL there is NO INDICATION of any route from Athen-Eleftherios Venizelos (airport) to Chalkida! – So does this agreement is it still valid or is it canceled in time!??
Please could anybody of some responsibility take a look at this situation!?? – If there is any agreement than it should be reflected in the timetables and routes of the agreeing company!?? – Or are this clandestin routes for tourist-smugglers to certain hotels only?;-))
      Sincerly

Another detail would be nice to have – the exact position where the bus from the Athens-Airport would start from… – The only indications i could find in the internet was this site:
        https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Athens-Airport-ATH/Chalcis

what indicates me that i have to take 3 (TREE) busses and to spend 3hours and 28 mitutes for the some 100 kilometers from Athens to Chalkida because there is a big detour backward to Athens-centre to go to Chalkida finaly for. In comparison with a direct drive this takes 3 and a half time more than necessary!?? – even the train would be quicker – but how far will be the train-station away from the busstation in Chalkida!??? –
Faced to such big problems I would be glad to get some answer to risk the travel to Chalkida!
        Thanks a lot in advance!
        Ralf
