Will Ayodhya case be decided by mediation? Supreme Court to pronounce landmark verdict today

NEW DELHI: The progress report of the mediation committee in the Ayodhya land dispute case will be tabled in the Supreme Court on Thursday. After looking at the report, the apex court will decide today whether the disputed land case will be heard on a daily date from July 25. In his petition, Gopal Singh had said that there is very little chance of resolving the dispute in the name of the arbitration committee as it is only wasting time and therefore the court should conclude the arbitration committee and dispose of the case by itself. Advocate of Gopal Singh Ps Narasimha had said before a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Anirudh Bose that the dispute has been stuck for the last 69 years and the mediation initiated to resolve the matter does not appear to be positive.

11 joint sessions have been held, but it seems that no decision has been taken. It is difficult to resolve the dispute through arbitration. On Gopal Singh Visharad's plea, the apex court summoned the report from the mediation committee. The progress report will be seen by a five-judge Constitution Bench of the apex court today.
