Rawanfond woman held for Rs 60 lakh theft

MARGAO: Fatorda police on Thursday arrested Silvina Fernandes, a resident of Shantinagar, Rawanfond, Margao. She was charged with stealing cash and valuables all worth over Rs 60 lakh from the house of Agalli resident Dassa Prabhakar Naique.
Police said Naique had lodged a complaint against Fernandes, accusing her of stealing cash and valuables from his house on March 27.Fatorda police arrested Fernandes from her house and, on sustained interrogation, she admitted to having committed the theft, police sources said.
The accused named two other persons as her accomplices— Manohar Prabhudessai and his wife Leena. Prabhudessai allegedly helped her in hiding the stolen property. The couple is absconding and has applied for anticipatory bail. Several of the stolen items have been recovered, police said.
