As the pandemic continues to stay in our lives, companies have been rethinking how they can reach customers in new ways. Many businesses have started to create face masks with their logos on them, but now companies are taking it a step further — they want you to smell their products. Sounds too weird to be true, right? Guess that's the just the 2020 we're living in. According to Foodbeast, Jack in the Box and food company, Hormel, have both made face masks to smell like its food. Jack in the Box's version has been created to smell like fried chicken in order to promote its new plant-based "Unchicken Sandwich."
The fast food chain's new imitation chicken sandwich will come in regular and spicy versions, as reported by AdWeek. The new item is meant to appeal to Gen Z and Millennials, who the company believes have shown they want more meatless items on menus. "We wanted to enter the plant-based conversation in a unique way," Jen Kennedy, Jack in the Box's chief product and innovation officer, told Adweek. "We're always trying to think of how we can be innovative while following our own path."
Hormel features new mask that smells like bacon
If plant-based food is not for you, don't worry — Hormel has you covered with its mask that has the aroma of sizzling bacon, according to Today. Hormel's site states the new Black Label Breathable Bacon face mask showcases "the latest in pork-scented technology with two-ply multi-fiber cloth to keep the delicious smell of bacon always wrapped around your nose." So, if waking up to the delicious smell of bacon cooking in the morning is something you dream of, this sounds perfect — unless you're hungry and don't want to smell it all day long.
Senior Brand Manager at Hormel, Nick Schweitzer, explained the company is always thinking about creative ways to get people to enjoy its bacon. "In 2020, that means connecting everyone's favorite bacon scent to the year's 'it' accessory, and in doing so, bring BLACK LABEL Bacon closer to our fans," he said. Hormel will also be donating up to 10,000 meals to Feeding America for every request of its unique bacon mask.
